too early for me to put him in there, but I wouldn't rule it out. A good season this year and a following strong one could make a case for him

Parise-Pavelski-Kane
Kessel-Stastny-Pominville
Pacioretty-Kesler-Backes (could swap Kesler and Backes)
Brown-Callahan-Oshie
Cole

Suter-Yandle (I know they are both LH, but I would give it a shot)
Mcdonagh-Carlson
J.Johnson-Fowler
Shattenkirk/Byfuglien

Quick
Miller
Schneider
Bobby Ryan is not being left off the team
he could infact become one of their top centers, he is transitioning very well into the position and the long term plan is indeed for him to play center.

Also Galchenyuk has a shot as well

wow did I forget Ryan

if put him in maybe over Pominville pushing him down, or instead of Pacioretty on the third pushing him down.

I think our team is a lot more suited for NHL sized rink rather than the big rink which in theory should favor more skilled players, but we still should be tough to play against.

By 2014, Nick Leddy may be up there as well for defensemen.
His game has already improved dramatically in just one year.

Kane

Bobby Ryan
Pavelski
Pominville
Pacioretty
Dustin Brown
Kesler
Oshie
Stepan
JVR
Callahan
Stastny
Cole
Wheeler
Galchenyuk
Malone
Okposo

Possible d-men

Suter
Yandle
Jack Johnson
McDonagh
Orpik
Carlson
Shattenkirk
Fowler
Byfuglien
Erik Johnson
Justin Faulk
Paul Martin
Gleason
Carle
Bogosian

Possible goaltenders:

Quick
Miller
Anderson
Howard
Schneider
Thomas?

Who do you guys think makes the team out of this list and what are your projected lines? I may have missed some guys.

We lack elite offensive firepower but we have a lot of good all around players and strong goaltending.
Looks good. I'll say 50/50 chance of defending that silver medal.

I mean this with as little homerism as I can. Fowler's name will be strongly considered if he continues to play the way he has. I don't know what the programs are like in Sweden but they know how to teach responsible play out there. I can remember one time where Fowler got burned this year and it was on a 2 on 1 as a result of Allen fumbling the puck. With guys like Lydman and Beauchemin playing great hockey, I still trust Fowler (when healthy) the most in our own zone. He's using his speed to get into lanes and his stick work has improved a LOT.

Need a mobile D core, and guys that can skate, although the US world junior team proved gritty can work on the big ice. I think skating on the backend will be crucial

Which to me means Fowler's a foregone conclusion. I agree with you completely though. Be interesting to see Pietrangelo on that ice.

one thing i think we lack on the back end is a massive crease clearer because whitney will be NOWHERE near this team....wouldnt mind a tandem of johnson-johnson and i really really want fowler-carlson even if bottom pairing but they imagine those 2 on the pp running the points

I would love to see them on the PP, but maybe pair one with McDonagh at ES. Dunno cause they could be seriously dominant together

Yeah I think a pair of Fowler and McD would be awesome. Would compliment each other nicely.

US won't have the biggest "names" in hockey, but I think they bring arguably the strongest lineup if everyone is rolling

Am I the only one who is not a fan of Yandle at all? This guy gets burned all the time. Terrific skater, good offensively, not so much defensively.

If I'm Canada or Russia, I am salivating at the thought of Yandle on the first pairing.
