Are you completely out of your mind?

A goalie with a sub .900 sv%, a cap dump and a 2nd? Embarrassing.

Kessel to the Pens should be outlawed by the league. Crosby and Kessel would be lethal. As in a goalie might have a seizure from seeing the red light go on and off so much

We almost certainly will not get fair value back for Kessel (you rarely do when dealing a star with under 2 years left on his deal), better to try to re-sign him than trade him. If Nonis is convinced he really cannot re-sign Kessel, then I'd be open to dealing him in the offseason, but extending his contract should be a huge priority this summer.

You can only negotiate with an upcoming free agent within a year of their deal expiring which is July 1st. On that day Kessel has a limited NMC kick in and the list of teams Toronto can trade him to gets cut significantly. So the Leafs will almost certainly get even less value if Kessels demands are outrageous or doesn't want to play here at all. The time to trade him is now with his current contract. If we wait until July 1st we cant trade him to as many teams, and if we re-sign him teams won't be so interested in a 7+ million one-dimensional scorer.

0 goals in 10 games, $5.4 million per season and and the Leafs and their fans want to be rid of him. I do believe erosion of value can be applied to this case.

Goalie with sub .900 sv% for a player who is on pace to score 0 goals this year, value sound a about right.

Schneider 0.897 sv%

For

Kessel 0 goals

Not enough.

How much are you Canucks fans really interested in spending on a 2nd line winger?

Kessel + JVR + Grabovski + Reilly + 1st 2013 for Malkin

JVR - Crosby - Kessel

Kulemin - Malkin - Lupul

Im thinking from your perspective that is a lot to pay for a winger who will be on your 2nd line.

Switch Gaunce for Corrado and Toronto would be interested IMO.

he wouldn't be a second line winger in the traditional sense though. He would be a first line winger playing on the second line. Im a huge Kessel fan so I might be over valuing him but I would do it imo

I'd rather trade Gaunce than Corrado, tbh. I think Toronto needs prospect centre depth a lot more than prospect D depth.

Malkin plays on the second line, is he a second liner? Gaborik started the year on the second line in New York

I would do this trade if we were getting a guy like Bobby Ryan or a signed Corry Perry, not because I don't think Kessel is as good, but Canucks need more size and grit. Kessel is not a great fit for Canucks. Sedins + Kassian is a good 1st line combination. Booth, Kesler, Kessel are all shot first guys, does not seem like good chemistry. And then if you put Kessel with Sedins they will run into similar problems like in the Boston series.

Still would get 2nd line ice time. PP he can play with Sedins maybe if one of them plays point.

Thats a lot to pay for that kind of player.

Burrows - Kesler - Kessel ?

We can take depth in all positions. We would prefer Carrado to Gaunce.

I don't think they'll get scraps, but I also don't see a #1 Center or #1 Defenseman coming for Phil Kessel either.

I would put Kassian on the second line with Kesler and Kessel, he would make a nice playmaker with them.

Gaunce would be your best C prospect, though. Corrado is our only D prospect likely to make the NHL imo. I don't see us trading him any time soon. The Leafs have Rielly, Finn, Percy, Blacker, Holzer, etc. Corrado is way more valuable to us then he would be to the Leafs.
