Bruins getting dominated by the Canadiens but Rask is being a boss. No shots yet for the Bruins over 10 minutes in.

Dean probably would have required more from a Western team.

And just like that
Habs no shots thru 10 minutes into 2nd period
And they score on 2nd shot of period with 9:07 left (Subban goal)

This Turco feature at intermission during the Stars broadcast is hilarious. He goes around the rink interviewing all these people and nobody knows crap about the team. He finds a guy in his jersey who's very excited to see him and asks him what he thinks of Oleksiak and he's all "who???"

Tim Thomas traded to the Islanders for a conditional draft pick in 2014 or 2015.

The condition is that TT reports to them or any other NHL team (if NYI traded him), so this looks purely like a cap move.
McKenzie also said that TT still has no intentions of playing this year.

Adam Proteau @Proteautype
The NHL: where it's no longer OK to bury contracts in the minors, but it's fine to bury contracts in the Islanders.

it sounds like they could count thomas against their cap pretty much forever, as long as he doesn't ever dress for them.

Start of 2nd period = Caps 1 - Pens 0
Late in 2nd period = Pens 4 - Caps 1
Caps are a trainwreck

Crosby makes it 5-1 Pens ,, Nearly 6-1 as Sutter has puck nearly for open net
2nd period over
Troy Brouwer on PK = Horrendous to watch

Utterly blatant cap circumvention going on between Boston and the Isles with Thomas.
If the NHL went after the Devils for their contract, then they've got to do something here. Essentially the Isles are just adding cap space for a player who has no intention to play and, as a result, the team has no intention of actually paying.

I dont get hate for OV
I liked him when he was dominating the league and he has been trying to improve his all around play these past few years. IMO they should stick him on like with Backstrom and tell Ovy just score again
Let his linemates cover his defensive mistakes

Devils pushed it and league took them to woodshed
Every GM/owner knows about this loophole and dont mind it (Big markets want cap to increase so the floor teams need help via any means to keep up)
The Devils trying to sign Kovy into his mid 40's and at such obvious circumvention (I believe his salary in final years was less then 1M) had to be called out by league and it was right thing to do
