Olympic soccer is absolutely terrible by the way. Not even close to the Euro's or World's. Since the IIHF world championship is pretty crappy itself we might as well see the best players go up against each other at the Oly's.
The league will let players go.
The Russians are going regardless.
I know the league does not want to shut down for 2 weeks.
If I am the League I limit the # of players from any one team to 4, with possible 5 under special circumstances(ie. at the teams request, or 5 different countries represented). Then play a limited schedule of two game per week per team.
So a player might miss 5 games, but the league never stops playing.
Canada's a little lean at LW so I had to move some folks around for that.
For forwards, tried to keep it to the formulas that have worked for them before (e.g. Giroux got 93 points with Jagr/Hartnell -> Dangler/Bruiser -> Tavares/Benn; Stamkos plays with Malone/St. Lous -> Powerforward/Speed+Passing -> Nash/Eberle)
For defense, it was mostly just about balancing speed between the pairs.
Anyway...
E. Staal - Crosby - Perry
Nash - Stamkos - Eberle
Tavares - Giroux - Benn
Richards -Toews - Bergeron
Doughty-Weber
Pietrangelo-Letang
Staal-Keith
Luongo
Price
Spares who could all make it:
E Kane/Spezza/Sharp/Duchene/Couture/Getzlaf/Seguin/Hall
Stamkos - Crosby(C) - Nash
Giroux - Tavares - Perry
Duchene/Neal/E. Staal(whoever is playing best) - Toews(A) - Eberle
M. Richards - Bergeron - St. Louis(if he is still playing) or Benn/J. Staal/Seguin
Spezza
Letang - Weber(A)
Keith - Doughty
Myers - Subban
Pietrangelo
Price
Luongo
Ward/Fluery
I think all the spots are filled except the Extra Forward and a 3rd line winger and 4th line winger, Marleau could be in the mix if he plays out of this world until then lol.

Myers has been a heaping pile of **** for the last two years. There is no way he gets the nod over Girardi/Subban/Hamhuis/M. Staal.
Agree with everything else.

I would personally prefer Bergeron to J. Staal though.
I'll admit there are some mildly wacky decisions, but I wanted lefties on left-side and righties on right-side across the board so there's no exceptions, instincts can kick in all the time (hence Letang as 7th). Campbell is a bit weedy, but big ice, I don't necessarily care how big my d-men are, I want them to go get the puck and go the other way. Hopefully there's someone better, but Canada certainly has a glut of RH d-men and a lack of LH ones. All 4 forward lines have teammates and mostly linemates together with complementary guys (sort of).
You have got to be kidding me. It's bad enough that we have to watch this floater on our club team on a nightly basis we don't need him on our national team.
Seriously, some of you need to get over this love affair with Kessel.
