I like a guaranteed win if I go in with a lead.

With these offenses, no win is guaranteed.

There's nothing wrong with going out and grabbing an elite closer in these drafts.

However, for me I have always preferred building an all-around solid bullpen and leave the elite players to other positions. Everyone has their own way of building a team and there isn't necessarily a "right way" to doing it.

All I know is if I hadn't grabbed Rivera when I did, someone else easily would've taken that leap by now.

Which player did MurrayBannerman try to select before Biggio? (nice selection for the record)

With the 120th pick, the Brooklyn Superbas select 3B/1B/OF Miguel Cabrera.

Iím not usually a fan of picking players who may only be halfway through their MLB career, but as hard as it is to believe, Miggy has 10 years of big league experience under his belt and over 1,500 games so thereís enough of a track record for me to make this pick. Yes, heís a defensive liability wherever I end up playing him, but the offensive upside is impressive and heís been surprisingly durable (at least 157 games played in each of his last 9 seasons):

.318 BA
.395 OBP
.956 OPS
151 OPS+
321 HR
1,123 RBI
961 Runs
7 time All Star
2012 AL MVP
2012 AL Triple Crown

He has received MVP votes in every one of his 10 seasons, with 6 top 5 finishes.

With the 121th pick, the Brooklyn Superbas select RP Hoyt Wilhelm

I have Wilhelm ranked as the second best reliever of all time (after Rivera) for his prolonged period of dominance and versatility since he could start, close or pitch long relief. In a 21 year career (which he didn’t debut until age 29), he put up the following stats:

143-122 record
2.52 ERA (147 ERA+)
1.125 WHIP
227 saves
1070 games, 2,254 innings
1,610 strikeouts
First reliever elected to the Hall of Fame in 1985

During a 7 years stretch from 1962-1968 (keep in mind this is between the ages of 39 and 46), he averaged 59 G, 110 IP, 7 wins, 87 Ks, 1.92 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and in 6 of those 7 seasons he posted a sub- 2.00 ERA.

Wilhelm also proved he could be a dominant starter. In his only full season as a starter in 1959, he led the league with a 2.19 ERA.

Most importantly, he will keep the powerhouse lineups in this draft off balance with his knuckleball after having to face flamethrowers Gibson and Feller.

The Toronto Blue Jays select,

the greatest defensive SS ever to play the game:

Omar Vizquel

Vizquel is considered one of baseball's all-time best fielding shortstops, winning nine consecutive Gold Gloves (1993–2001) and two more in 2005 and 2006. He tied Cal Ripken, Jr.'s American League record, since surpassed, for most consecutive games at shortstop without an error (95, between September 26, 1999 and July 21, 2000).[1] Currently, his .985 career fielding percentage is the highest of all-time for a shortstop in Major League history. On May 25, 2008, Vizquel became the all-time leader in games played at shortstop, passing another Venezuela SS. Vizquel is the all-time leader in double plays made while playing shortstop. He has the most hits recorded by any player from Venezuela (2,877; 40th all-time).On May 24, 2010, Vizquel became the shortstop with the third most hits all time, behind second place Derek Jeter and Honus Wagner. Vizquel is the sacrifice hit leader of the live-ball era.
