You're right, you already overpayed one second line center last season.

Grabovski has a higher points per game than Weiss. He may be slightly overpaid but as our 2nd line Centre he is very good.

No interest.

Kadri is leading the Leafs in points and has the potential to be just as good or better than Weiss. Kulemin is the Leafs best defensive forward and brings a good overall package. Those picks could realistically be Pit-30, Tor-31 and Ashton a recent 29th overall pick is also included. Not too mention Weiss could very well be available this off-season for no assets and there is no guarantee he would stay beyond this season if a deal was made now. If Weiss were to walk the Leafs would have traded young, cheap players like Kulemin, Kadri, Ashton for 35-40 games of a 2nd line center and get to pick 1-10 spots higher. Not worth it, this team isn't a Weiss away from the cup especially when you remove Kulemin and Kadri from the line-up.

Just horrible for the Leafs

-Weiss is not a 1C
-Kulimen is worth more than a late 1st round pick

Panthers get something for nothing as Weiss is bound to walk this offseason anyway
Leafs get 1C and Weiss goes home (Burke would've done it! )
So we deal Kuli, Kadri, Ashton and a 2nd for Weiss and a late 1st?? Well that sounds reasonable.

Toronto trades Kadri (or Bozak), Kulemin, Ashton, 2nd for Weiss, Pens 1st.

Florida trades Weiss for Kadri (or Bozak), Ashton, Dumoulin, Leafs 2nd.

Pittsburgh trades 1st, Dumoulin for Kulemin.

Interesting . . .

EDIT: Might say take out Ashton. Toronto gives Kadri, Kulemin, 2nd for Weiss, Pens 1st. You could add a condition that Florida adds a 2nd if it's something extreme like Pens 1st is within 10 picks of Leafs 2nd.

So what do you think of the proposal?

Toronto's GM laughs so hard he faints.

Kulemin + Kadri + Ashton for Weiss and the opportunity to move up 10-15 spots in the draft. What is this.. I don't even..

That's a terrible deal for the Leafs.

Weiss could easily walk in UFA too.

Kadri is finally showing how good he can be and the Leafs ship him off?

No thanks. I'd keep 3-5 cheap years of Kadri, a good winger in Kulemin and a good 3rd line prospect in Ashton over Weiss and a late first 3-4 years away from playing and that is without factoring the 2nd we're giving up.

Deal as long as you add "bottle of lube" under the To Toronto section.

I'll keep the 2nd. 'Our player' will likely be on the board still, 5 spots back.

At the draft it would take a 3rd rounder (attached to our 2nd) to move up a few spots and into the 1st round, if we really wanted to.

The picks just make HF members feel warm and fuzzy inside. However, when you really dig deep and look, the 1st for a 2nd barely adds any value to the trade what-so-ever.

IF you took out the 2 draft picks and flipped us a 3rd; it would be similar value to GMs who know that they are talking about - Which really shows what the deal is actually worth.

No deal. Kadri is leading the Leafs in points, 8 in 10 games and finally making use of his talent. Weiss is good, but he's still never been more than a 60 point centerman. Kadri playing center now I expect can at least be as good if not better with a couple seasons.

I would do it for Bozak instead, but even than that Toronto 2nd would be conditional on Weiss signing with the team.

LOL! Pit first and Ashton are a wash, only Ashton is further along in his development. So Top 6 center, top 6 winger and 2nd rd pick for a borderline top line center? NTY

It's funny how Weiss apparently gets a better return that what People are offering for Kessel

+ Weiss is a 2nd liner and an upcoming UFA :

Weiss is a #1C?? No more than Bozak is. This is a horrible deal for the Leafs.

Weiss....carrer high 61 points.
Grabovski...carrer high points 58
Tyler Bozak...carrer high points 47.

Unless my math is off, for Weiss to be "twice as good" as any of our centers, they would be carrer high 30.5 point guys. Clearly that is not the case.

The difference is 3-14 points....not really worth trading Kuli, Kadri, Ashton and a 2nd for that "upgrade".
