Pass.
Was nursing a lower body injury (usually means a groin) the first 3 games so he sat out a couple games. Since returning (2 games), he's been solid (2 pts) and looks back to his old self. Maybe not worth the price to you guys but he hasn't "sucked this year."

Weiss is from Toronto. Leafs may have an advantage to re-signing. Thats just a calculated guess though.

I dont think hes a #1c. However i do think he's a good temp stop gap and a #2 on a contender. Much better then Grabovski. Not sure if Ottawa would be looking at him for anything longer then this season to make a push in the P/O. may not be worth the assets to them at this point.

thats the thing would a top 6 of

Lupul Weiss Kessel,

JVR Grabovski Kuliemin

be perfect? no but while that top 6 does not have a #1 center it does however have 2 Legit # 2 centers

IF Frattin, Kadri Karmonov keep up their play Toronto has a pretty deep young top 9.

Weiss would buy us more time to find a Legit #1 the question is whats the price?

I find it weird that so many people are against getting a guy that has played his whole career on a **** team (sorry Florida) while putting up respectable numbers, and is still fairly young (29).

He would immediately be the best centre on Toronto (sorry, it's true).

I would love him in Ottawa if the price is right. Not only does it alleviate the loss of Spezza, but it makes our team that much better offensively when Spezza gets back.

Michalek - Spezza - Turris
Silfverberg - Weiss - Alfredsson

That's pretty nice.

The problem is that a player putting up good numbers on a bad team doesn't always mean they're being "held back" by that team. Sometimes it means they're getting put in advantageous situations that they might not be otherwise on better teams. There was a lot of hype about guys like Horton, Booth, and JBo when they were in Florida, and then when they leave.... Not to say that Weiss can't help someone, obviously he can.

If Weiss gets traded anywhere, I'm betting it will be to Phoenix.

I want him, but as a pure rental I certainly don't want to overpay.

Same here as a Leafs fan. Even signed longterm, I don't really want to pay much. Sure, he's an upgrade, but even IF the Leafs got him, we'd still be looking for an upgrade the very next day since Weiss-Grabovski-Bozak-McClement still lacks a #1 C.

Makes no sense for the Leafs at this point. If he's available July 1 then make a pitch for him

He's a better fit for Ottawa though

This is the dumbest thing I've ever heard anyone say on this website, and I've been here for 11 years.

Your ignorance makes me sick. You've never watched a Panthers game in your life so you should honestly stay out of any conversation involving any hockey team to be honest, because you clearly know NOTHING.

Also, trade makes no sense for Ottawa or Toronto. Florida will not give up Weiss for cheap. Tallon has publicly stated numerous times, including DIRECTLY TELLING ELLIOT FRIEDMAN that he will do everything he can to re-sign Weiss as he is an integral part of the team and its future.

I find it funny that some moron like Howard Berger all of the sudden has credibility on this website. It's a slow week for rumors so they start making them up. I swear they get their rumors from HFboards proposals, and all of you eat them up.

Too early for all these teams to be making a move like this. Maybe at the deadline depending on how we're all doing, otherwise potentially give him a look in the off-season.

I'd do Greening + ok prospect + 2nd. Can't say I'd want to give up too much more. Is there any chance of Matthias getting dealt too?

Why does that even matter? I only post when I have something to say.

You see some with 6000 posts in 4 months and you wonder "do they just reply to every topic around?"

When I think of a player like Stephen Weiss and the Florida Panthers, I don't blame the fact that he's on Florida as a reason why he's held back.

I look at Florida as a team that has invested 20 minutes a night on Weiss as their best center, and this is about as far as they'll go with him in that crucial role.

Weiss would be a good rental for this season, but the cost would be too high.

He's a UFA at the end of the year and no guarantee he signs with us. I wouldn't if I were in his shoes. We have a young #2 center in Turris that is arguably better right now, and has room for growth; and of course Spezza plugging the #1 C position. His choices are: sign with us and play as the 3rd line center, become a winger, or sign with another team that will probably pay him more than we will.

Grabovski is better than Weiss on both sides of the puck...
