$25 000 000 per year? That's awesome but crazy.

Hard to believe this guy just turned 27. He made his MLB debut when I was a freshman in college.
EDIT: He won't be 27 until April.

A lot of money, but that's how much he means to the organization

As a Mariners fan, at least have had so many great players in our organization, albeit the worse managed one in sports.

I don't think you realize how much money MLB makes, especially when the new TV contracts kick in.
Small market teams are going to be bringing in more money than the Maple Leafs when it's all said and done.

LOL. $25 million is a 5-6 year contract for a lot of good NHL players. In MLB, that's only an annual salary.

Griffey Jr, Randy Johnson, A-Rod, Edgar Martinez, Tino Martinez, Jay Buhner, Ichiro Suzuki..
Solid players have come and gone...how does this team not have at least 1 World Series yet..

I for one can't wait for the Yankees to pay through the nose for his decline years in 2020.

Good for Mariners for keeping him. Good for Felix.
Bad news for Detroit (Verlander) and Dodgers (Kershaw). David Price will also get paid.

I can see Verlander and Kershaw getting 200 mill. David Price I cant. I think he gets somewhere between Sabathia/Felix money.
Mariners future on the mound is bright with 1 of the best pitchers in the game and the big young trio (Walker, Hultzen, Paxton).

The team and its franchise player had talked about a framework of a deal that would pay $175 million over the next seven seasons.
But as of Sunday afternoon, sources say, the Mariners and Hernandez are not close to finishing an extension, because there are issues that the two sides are sorting through.
The elbow issue is perceived by at least one of the parties in the deal as being a possible impediment to the completion of the new contract.

Getting a guy like Felix locked up for his prime years is the first step to getting there.
I am another frustrated M's fan, but for the first time in like 10 years I feel positive about the direction of the organization.

I'd give up my Brad Pitt good looks any day for an arm like the King's.
