Garth Murray vs Mike Grier

Do you think Murray will ever compare? Should the Habs have went after Grier?

Why not have him in addition?

Imagine a Murray-Bégin/Lapierre-Grier

as a 4th line/checking line

I think Mike Grier started somewhere and Garth Murray does compare to a younger Mike Grier. I don't know if he will ever score 20 goals in the NHL like MG did in his younger years, but he sure has every other asset to make the habs pass on Grier. I'd rather see Lapierre or Ferland complete this line.

No I don't think so...we have many prospect who will have to make the jump in the next few years and a couple of them are gritty fowards. Lapierre and Chipchura are both almost ready and Latendresse and Kostitsyn might not be able to start right away on the top 2 line.

We need room for them IMO...and Murray is quite good in his role!

I would love to have Grier on the team. Sending him over the boards with Murray and Begin against some softies would be great. What is nice about these players is that they can skate.

Garth Murray surely has potential, but his upside will never be more than a great 3rd liner. I think Grier was on Buffalo 2nd line with Drury.

Grier might have been good with Saku and Higgins

Why not have both. Murray, Begin, Grier, Lats all would add a nice dimension if we cant have top end skill. Hopefully Lats can click with Saku and Higgins next year.

Murray's an overacheiver, Grier's an underacheiver.

Give Garth the speed and size of Mike (To go with his own heart, determination and grit), and you have Erik Cole.

I agree that Grier has a football player frame, but have you seen Murray skate ? He has alot of speed...

I agree. Also Grier works pretty hard, he just have no hands at all.
