Yep, and the previous Stanley Cup winners have had that combination.

but.......but.....

anyway, sorry about that comment aragon. i hope it didn't cause you too much distress. i was just kid ding. size is good, but if that big player doesn't have skill and skating, i'd rather not see him out there over smaller players that can skate and play defense.

on the loktionov guy, is he not a center? were we not just saying we don't need a center?

Not sure, but I do know that if we could get O'Reilly (and I really hope that management is at least considering it) it would make us a lot stronger now and I doubt very much our first this year will amount to what O'Reilly already is.

Jesus, drop Tyler Myers. Don't go down with that ship. Glad I acted quickly in my league with him and picked up Diaz.

Oilers fans seem really down on D-man Ryan Whitney. Rewind to a year ago and some Oilers fans were borderline calling him untouchable. Perhaps he would fit Stache's uptempo friendly for offensive-Dmen system. Could be good time to strike while the asking price is low.

I am still holding out for a coaching change to turn the ship around lol.

Vlasic is a free agent, might pick him up instead.

Howard Berger ‏@Berger_BYTES

Source tells me today #Leafs and #Senators have approached Florida about centre Stephen Weiss. Would look superb on either team.

Would prefer ROR obviously but Weiss would essentially provide the same thing to us. Flexibility in our top 6 and a much stronger team when Spezza returns.

If the price is right I think it's a good idea.

I wanna say that's to much but feel like I'm being a homer.

Either way With thier goaltending depth I'm not sure they'll want Bishop and I really like greening

I think you'll have to move something that will help them now until they are out of the playoff race.

Bishop has no use to them with Markstrom unless they have really really lost faith in theodore, and Greening simply wont cut it.

Weiss just needs a change of scenary...He's been with the Panthers forever and many a season where they haven't made the playoffs...obviously looking at his UFA status next year, Ottawa should be careful what they offer.

Perhaps
Bishop+Da Costa+4th Rounder
or
Bishop+Hoffman+4th Rounder

If no goaltender wanted, than Greening + Da Costa

How about we trade Spezza? Spezza would be crucified if he put up Toews numbers in Ottawa.

I prefer to stay still until we know if we're a playoffs team. If we are, another top 6 player would be good. I just have no idea how we'll replace Gonchar's game in the offseason. Patrick Wiercioch doesn't seem ready yet.

Really don't think this will get it done. He's their min leader for forwards, assistant captain, puts up 60 pts a season, produced in their one playoff run; he's having a down year, but yor offering 2 guy with a chance at being regular nhl'rs and a late pick. Greening and Da Costa might get it done if you added.

Trading Spezza is a bad idea. He's probably our best player and I don't see any scenario that would improve this team by trading him long term.

You just can't trade for another top line center their just not out thier.

Hes also a UFA whos asking too much money for them and we will be paying for 3 months of his service.

You guys forget what Kovalchuck returned as a soon to be UFA, you put too much value on UFAs, especially one in shortened season.
