I agree with what has been said, the value and asking price will likely be similar to the Richards/Carter deals. I'd adjust this one:

1st, Oposo, Strome. 2nd liner with size, great prospect, potentially high 1st.

I'd be happy to throw in a conditional 2nd for a top 10 pick, or an alright prospect like Blacker or Ryan, but I think the Isles do OK this year. Borderline playoffs.

I think I'd ask for Tom Wilson in this deal. Maybe sweeten the pot a little.

But to be honest, I'm certainly not overly interested in moving Kessel. Only if the right deal is there. If we move him, we may very well regret it if he goes off to score 40 or 50 goals or 90 pts somewhere else.

Whoa - can't let that slip on you. Kessel does a few things better than most, but doesn't do a lot of other things. He can skate, dangle, and shoot wristers and snappers better than most. He can also pass quite well. But he doesn't go to the dirty areas, get dirty, skate through checks/hits, engage the body, take slapshots, drive the net, fight, or hit.

Not that we need him to do all of that, but just that there's many things Kessel does not do.

Might as well start the sentence off with "In a few years when Kessel wins a Selke."
I find it utterly ridiculous that you've brought a friggen chart to tell people a 25 year old is done progressing.

Only in Toronto

Oilers should offer sheet ROR

don't need anymore high picks and a two way C like him would make their top 6 pretty amazing

Nonis said that he'd trade anyone if it would help the team. Doesn't mean were shopping our best player asap

lol.

If Kessel doesn't hit 40 in the next three years, I doubt he ever will pass it in his career.

If we could Carlson + 1st for Kessel that be a massive steal. Id be happy with Carlson + Forsberg.

Carlson + Wilson? No chance.

Carlson + Forsberg? I'm definitely listening.

I'm a big fan of Forsberg. Don't know enough about Carlson to make an educated opinion.

But our D is superbly weak. What's Carlson's defensive game like? We've got tons of offense coming through the pipes, so really, it's not a huge issue (though a mobile defence can take over games). I liked Holzer's game on Tuesday. Might have a player in him.

Would you do Carlson+Tom Wilson?
Maybe, I was thinking about Marcus Johansson being the other addition if Forsberg or a 1st wasnt coming back. Carlson is definitely one of the best starting points for any deal out there, especially with his pretty friendly cap hit.

I'd want : Carlson + In order: Forsberg/1st/one of Johansson/Wilson with a 2nd

Why would Washington want Kessel when they let Semin go, though?

Seems a little dumb. Semin isn't near the playmaker that Phil is but he's a nasty sniper.

Why not Carlson+Wilson?

And as I mentioned about his defensive game is pretty good. Good shot blocker and mobility.

Carlson is a right handed shot too which would be great to add to Rielly and Gardiner

Rielly/Carlson
Gardiner/Franson
Phanuef/Gunnar

also for Wsh

Ovie/Backstrom
Riberio/Kessel

would be a great 1 / 2

Semin = non-existent in playoffs, Kessel = PPG in playoffs (as a 20 and 21 year old as well)

Think of this going forward:

Kuznet (assuming he comes over)-Backstrom-Ovi
Forsberg-Ribeiro-Kessel

Those may not be the lines, and their defense would need some tweaking, but damn that would be sweet.

I honestly don't think Van would give up Kassian but that would be fun to watch. Maybe the Lu situation is as bad as everyone is saying and they

it would also give the Leafs a ton of quantity which isn't necassarily a bad thing.

Just not a huge fan of Wilson's.

Though I coached his nephew in soccer last summer and he was a big goon too

Not sure what the implication here is.

I am a big fan of Forsberg from what I've seen of him. Do I value him more than any high-level prospect? Not necessarily.

People here seem to hold Carlson in high regard. I have never payed attention to him when playing the Caps. I asked for a scouting report on him.

Anyways.

Carlsons D game is nothing special, average and possibly below average.

He has good offensive skills but doesn't really show them often in Washington. Alzner is a much, much better option if possible.

I'd want Alzner + Forsberg or Carlson + top 3-5 1st
