I don't see a trade helping the Wild. Can anybody name a top-6 center that we can acquire not sending Brodin/Granlund/Coyle/Zucker/Larsson the other way? Didn't think so.

Everything else is kind of moving the deck chairs, especially considering the larger roles those five will be taking on the team.

It really comes down to moving along with Cullen, Granlund, and maybe Larsson, until somebody becomes that #2 center.

This.

Hasn't Parise played as center occasionally? Get him a good scoring winger and you're good to go:

XXX - Parise - Kessel/Perry
Granlund - Koivu - XXX

I don't think he has....isn't he still 0-0 in the faceoff dot? When Koivu gets kicked out, Heatley was always the one to come in for the draw.

I meant back in New Jersey. And wasn't he a center at the Olympics?

No, he was centered by Kesler.

Well, there is a good chance that Granlund or Larsson might be playing well by the time playoffs roll around.

I think Goligoski might be available. Setoguchi+Dman for him might work out. Although I am not sure who I would want to take out of the blueline.

I wonder what we'd have to add to our 1st get Ryan O' Rielly? His name hasn't really come up around here (I don't think).

Parise - Koivu - Granlund
Bouchard - RoR - Coyle/Zucker
Coyle/Zucker - Brodziak - Clutterbuck

Amnesty Heatley; trade Seto.

An interesting thought maybe?

Don't worry someone in the Granlund thread suggested we package him for O'Reilly

Weird thing about O'Reilly was all the pre-draft writtings about his "great character".

Maybe he just doesn't want to be a 3rd line center his entire career. Who knows.

Heatley is useless on the draw. They need to have plays designed such that they assume he loses the draw every time, and attack the opposing forwards around the face-off circle.

O'Reilly would probably cost us Larsson.

Setoguchi, Scandella, and Larsson probably. That would be a high price.

No to trading Larsson...

I have a good feeling about him. With his work ethic, skillset and build, I think he'll be that 2c we need.

You should see what Avs fans would be expecting on the trade board. This package wouldn't get it done.

I wonder if the Avs would be interested in dealing Stastny?

He has been having a rough time over there for a while now, but he definitely still has good skill and is young. We could certainly use a player like him...

Butch-Stastny-Heatley

Ohhh yeah....

I'm not really sure what the Avs are looking for however...

we need to keep our 1st round pick. trade seto for some defense; what about trading kyle brodziak? sign perry in the off-season once we dump a couple contracts e.g. cullen and possibly bouchard

parise-koivu-coyle
perry-granlund-heatley
zucker-larsson-clutterbuck
mitchell-knopka-?

He's the AV's 1st line center not 3rd, he wants more $$ and term they are offering around 7 mil for 2 years or 17 mil for 5.

Can't really base trades around the desire to sign a free agent.

For proof, look at Pittsburgh's plan this past offseason. Dumped Michalek to free up space to sign both Suter and Parise.

Failed. It's a bad plan.

Minnesota let Lat's walk and it worked.

I doubt that the Wild would have kept him around even if they knew that Parise was coming no matter what.

Lats was just way too injury prone. Great player, but not reliable enough to count on.

I'm really starting to like the idea of trading for Kadri. He's been great so far this year and is leading Toronto in scoring. He's exactly what we need- young center with a scoring touch and a ridiculous amount of skill. Now would be the time to pull the trigger before his stock gets too high. It probably will never happen, he doesn't seem like a Fletcher/Yeo kind of guy after that whole training camp fiasco, but I can dream right?

Yeah, especially with Bouchard in the roster. You can't rely on too many injury prone players to contribute in the top 6.
