Getting to the floor for free, probably. Way to wow the fans, Wang.

Isles could have had Komisarek for a 2nd and actually gotten a player.

If Thomas doesn't play this year, I assume that his contract rolls over one year a la Alexei Yashin.

Kind of defeats the point of the salary cap minimum...

Maybe they plan to Toll Thomas too hahahaha

This so going to give the old "someone will take him to get to the cap floor" argument as second life.
Before this trade, the isles cap was at $50m.

and Staples says it's a conditional 2nd. I'm gonna guess the isles give up a 2nd if TT plays for them.

Pure cap move. Gets the Isles over the floor, saves money for Boston, Thomas won't report and Isles wont give up anything. If he for some reason does report, NYI gets 15 games of Thomas and flips him for a 2nd at the deadline.

Gotta say I am confused. Does this mean the Blues have to add salary too in order to reach the floor? They had basically the same cap number as the NYI before this deal.

They`d have to actually pay an actual player.

For real. Makes no sense. Komi isn't even bad anymore, overpaid but what do they care they needed to reach the floor and will actually play.

Good job Snow.

It must be based on something else.

Or the 2014 2nd rounder is if he plays this year (comes back), and 2015 2nd is if he signs with the Islanders for next year ?

Though, those conditions don't really make sense.

What's with the Islanders and aging, enigmatic reclamation projects?

Best wishes if he plays for the Isles. he was the source of many a headache but I would not have been at a cup parade in 2011 without him.

Dreger says the Islanders confirm it. They're probably paying the person in charge of updating the Islanders site below minimum wage so he does a terrible job.

Wang would have had to pay Komisarek. He doesn't have to pay Thomas.
