1st + Merrill would be a very good start but as Abss Heat said there is a rumor Feaster would never ask Glencross to waive his NMC.

It's a decent offer, but the problem is, Glencross might never ever waive his NTC. He's so rooted in the Saskatchewan/South Alberta area doing farmwork, participating in rodeos, and having a young family around... I don't see why he would waive to go to New Jersey.

Plus, we love him here.

Makes sense. He's the one guy that kept jumping out at me when watching the Flames. Seems like an all-around kind of player. A left wing, too, which is exactly what the Devils need right now.

He's a fantastic blend of motivated, skilled, fast, and gritty. Sure, he's not exactly first-line material unless you pair him with say, Crosby, but he'll make a line run just by the virtue of how he approaches the game - in an honest, hardworking way.

He's the definition of "a player every team needs/would love to have."

We're just lucky we're in the right location (Canadian prairies), because it's pretty obvious that he's also extremely loyal to his family and his community. That cap hit is GORGEOUS for what he does on a nightly basis.

The condition is based on Thomas playing 1 game this season.

Basically, the Isles had until tomorrow to ensure they were at the cap floor, otherwise they would be penalized. So they bring on Thomas' big-ass contract to reach the cap floor, Thomas likely won't play for the Isles, and that means they won't give up a pick.

Seems like a win-win for everyone.

But what is the condition if he doesn't play does the pick become a third or nothing?

It's quite obvious that the Islanders didn't know that I was available to sign a contract, then stay home...

Win/Win for both teams. The Isles are unsure if Visnovsky will come back so Thomas is a backup plan to hit the cap floor. And well Boston gets to free up a good 5M.. Only team that gets shafted IMO is if Thomas reports to the team and they lose their second

A total of 32.6% of the Isles' cap payroll is made up of players who don't even suit up (Thomas, DiPietro, Visnovsky and Yashin). Think about that for a moment. A one of a kind organization for sure.

DiPietro is Nabokov's backup and Vis is playing tonight.

Apparently I had some old info on Visnovsky then. And DiPietro, I thought he was basically the 3rd string goalie/mascot at this point behind Nabokov and Poulin. In any case I can't understand how any Isles fan can be happy about this "trade", its only purpose being to allow Snow to ice a team that's below the cap floor and the management to save money. The league doesn't seem to care but the PA should be up in arms about this.

This should be considered cap circumvention

Was on the main board and there was a thread about Paul Statsny and his declining play. People say his trade value has gone down dramatically and that he needs a new home.

Would he be a good fit for Calgary? If yes, what could we get for him?

His value has absolutely gone down, but until ROR signs he will have to high of a price for us to pay. If we could get him for Cammy + Smith I would do it. Both Cammy (6 mill a year) and Statsny(6.6 million) are overpaid and Statsny is only 3 years younger. I think like Jbo under Sutter he is being misused Sacco is a terrible coach.

Tanguay - Stastny - Iginla
Hudler - Stajan - Cervenka
Glencross - Backlund - Sven

Then move Stempniak + Sarich for a physical #4 defensemen

I man can dream

Hey guys pens fan here just wondering what do u guys think will happen with iginla if flames are out of it at trade deadline? Have you guys heard anything about Calgary trying to sign him to an extension? Does he wanna stay with the flames? Our local beat writes have speculated he would be a guy we would go after it seems to make sense we got the cap space we should be a cup contender and we got 87 to play with him. We dont got many forward prospects to offer but we got a ton of def prospects

He has said for years he will waive his no trade clause to go any where. Management wants to re-sign him but it is up to Iggy.

As for a deal I think a good starting point is
1st + Maatta

That is probably a good comparable to the return we expect for Iginla, especially now that we can keep part of his cap hit we can make it possible for more teams to afford him

I always root against u guys this year not because i dislike Calgary at all just because i want u guys to be out of so we have a shot at iggy. You guys know your team alot better then I do but just from being a hockey fan it dont seem like that would be a bad thing for your teams future u guys have alot of pieces that can get prosp and picks and its a great draft if u get a top pick u guys could really get good in a hurry.
