#Isles GM Garth Snow: "This move gives us roster flexibility." 2nd-rounder is conditional on Tim Thomas playing at least 1 game for #Isles.

It would be so awesome if he would play for the Islanders.

Good for Jacobs! Doesn't have to use his insurance $$ to get a 3rd line winger.

Now do they Isles have to give him an opportunity to show up or can they tell him to stay home?

Great move by Chiarelli. We will get nothing in return but we get cap room NOW. We have a ton of flexibility. We can go and get a rental and have all the cap room in the World.

Thanks for the memories Timmy! I loved and supported you through all the bs. And frankly don't care about your political views. You were the ultimate warrior, and without you we would have never won a cup. Godspeed!

Sweet! Bruins will save some cash and they will get another early draft pick
from a bad islanders team.

Well, he played his hand well. Snow did well too because the Isles get compliant with $5m of monopoly money. TT never plays a game and they don't have to pay real money to reach the floor.

Anybody wanna wager a guess on how much cap space this gives the B's with Savard's LTIR?

this deal is like i said it would be all along... boston was able to deal thomas at anytime it wanted to anyteam with cap space

if thomas never reports... the new team never suffers any money hit... and cap space isnt an issue. the new team can hold onto thomas contract and make him play next year. if he doesnt report then... again no money is lost. thomas has a valid contract and islanders can keep him suspeneded forever if they want to.

they did that to nabakov and he eventually played for them

one day thomas might play again... and if/when he does, islanders will have one hell of a good deal here {assuming thomas isnt 50 when it happens}

Thomas won 2 of the last 4 vezina's and islanders just picked him up for a conditional pick. Im pretty sure the only way it becomes a 2nd is if thomas shows up and plays well.

meanwhile... i suppose we get something which is better then nothing. Its sad that this came to this. I blame thomas. He did great for us for awhile so im willing to forgive him and i have no hard feelings... but he handled this past year very very very poorly. If i was his friend/advisor i would have corrected him on several mistakes he made. This is one case where the B's have almost nothing to apologize for {unlike with Bourque and Orr and Espositio and Oates and others we all remember}

anyhow its done... and we came out of it about as good as i expected. Goalies are never worth alot in trades. I hope one day we do get a second out of this and it turns into our next Lucic or Bergeron or Krecji. I guess we just wait and see on that one...

I hope thomas gets everything straight with his family and plays again and i wish him no ill will. He won us a cup. So... i want to part terms with him with warm fuzzy thoughts.

Go Bruins Go... this is officially the age of Tukka now, and thank god he looks like a winner too. Its a good time to be a Bruins fan

Bruins won't get the pick as Thomas will not be playing for the Islanders. Basically it's cap space in exchange for nothing. Islanders get cap hit in exchange for nothing.

if anyone thinks Chia isn't at least considering his options regarding Iginla at the deadline, they're crazy. This gives us effectively 9 million bucks in cap space this year and Iginla would be a perfect rental for this team. Plus it looks like that team is FINALLY tanking.

Iginla is a sexy name, but I'd take an offensive defenseman because the power play looks like ****.

I'd love it if Timmy dressed for the Islanders against the Bruins (home game) as the back up so we could give him a final good bye and get a very good draft pick.

Good luck Timmy, wherever you go. Always going to be my favorite Bruins goalie of all time.
