Damn. That's quite a ways away.

I'd love to pre-order and get into the beta, so it shouldn't be too bad of a wait.

Get the try 'n buy demo from ehmtheblueline, and purchase license that way. Did it about 2 weeks ago when upgrading to a new PC.

Everything, except for the fact that they're both hockey GM games.

I read somewhere (here or at ootp) that EHM compared to FHM will look like NHL97 compared to NHL13.

That's probably accurate. OOTP has been one of the best GM sims out there for years and years (I still prefer FOF, but thats dead in the water). So if FHM is anything like OOTP it'll be a great game.

Yeah, but keep in mind OOTP has 10+ years on its neck, and EHM 07 was on the third version already. So, basically what I'm saying, don't expect FHM to be on par with OOTP 13 featurewise etc.

Agree, it won't be OOTP 13 on it's first release, but I still think they're going about it the right way to release a very good game the first time.

Also, I've never been a fan of the SI interface, compared to the OOTP so it'll have that edge over EHM series in my book.

I loved EHM (Freeware the most), but we need something to come out and replace it, push the market forward

Okay, Question:

I'm pretty into GM games on the mock drafts board and have been in and currently am competing in Fantasy and keeper leagues, I've tried PPM and *********** (liked Metroho much more), but I've never played EHM.

If I go out and buy FHM, will it be really difficult for me to get going and understanding the game, considering I'm used to GM games operated by guys on the computer and not huge databases of info? Just curious, because this sounds like something I would really enjoy.

Edit: "metro hockey" without the space gets blocked out?... okay.

Best advice I can give to you is to try a demo of OOTP since it's being made by the same company. It won't be exactly the same or as polished since this is a first release of a new game, but it will give you a bit of foundation as to how controls work with that companies games. It's different, but some of the stuff is very similar to how it's handled in games like EHM and FM. In some cases it's far more intuitive, others a bit more complex and/or deeper.

THIS, I cannot wait for this game. Pre-ordering for the $10 off + BETA access. I only wish it would be released on handhelds ala Football Manager. I mean, it's half the game that regular FM is, but still a great time killer.

Drat! I was hoping to make a rough online league during beta. In OOTP, does everyone have to purchase the game to do an online league or only the commish?
