Well it's now official Bourque/Plek/Gionta is our #1 line.
When the DD/MP/EC line proved it couldn't handle top line matchups early in the season (i still don't know why everyone considered them the top line before the season began, they played so much time agaisnt 2nd and 3rd line opponents all last season which inflated their stats), they became default, as only they can really handle them on the team. Another good reason why the kids and Prusty should maintain a depth scoring role for a couple of seasons before moving up. They'll get torn apart by league veterans.
Wow....Tyler Myers look so awful, never thought I'd see that.
Kinda reminds me of Barry Beck who started off like a beast in his rookie year (22 goals, still the d-man record). After that he got traded to the Rangers but never repeated his rookie year performance and became a pylon eventually. Wait, Myers hasn't even enjoyed the prime of a Beck. Beck is more like Dion Phaneuf. Let's go with Willie Huber. He was 6'7 and never materialized after a good start and became a pylon. There, that's better.
Again with the DD bashing while the problem on this line is the wingers right now. Typical hfb.
This is not DD bashing it's about having to much of the same in one team.
Plekanec is clearly the better player between the two we can all agree on that....
With Gionta and now Gallagher can you really afford DD as number one or two centre? In the short term YES but come playoff time when you play the same team in a seven game series....I don't think so.
O'Reilly would be a HUGE upgrade to DD in every way.
You're not wrong, but kinda like the subban situation, if it comes to a trade it's because there's absolutely no way a deal is getting done and Colorado is over a barrel.
He's still an RFA though, so Colorado doesn't have to trade him. They aren't going to to move him for something under value. They might not get overpaid (which is probably what he'd cost if he was signed and playing), but they will get value.
