If you want to maintain offensive zone puck possession the D have to be active... This is why they only have 12 shots on goal and have struggled to maintain a cycle the D is too safe and don't support the offensive zone cycle...
It's a balance act they don't have down just as yet as a unit of 5 on the ice. When they struggle to create offense and lack in shots on goal it's due to the D playing too safe not supporting the forwards cause they don't trust if they pinch that the support will be there for them the other way if they don't get to the puck first.
Dion should have the green light same with Liles and the forwards should be aware of that and rotate 1 guy high... Work in progress that needs fixing as units of 5 on the ice.
I am aware of that but this game its more obvious than the usual so it's a bit odd. Especially it resulted us getting burned in the powerplay. I hope he starts playing in the right sooner than later as his game in the left isn't working tbh.
