So now Avery reponds badly to all black players???

Where do you get this stuff

The guy has one "alleged" incident where nobody even knows what was said or in what context and you have him out to be a Klan member?

I never understood the fascination with Carter. Never liked him much.

What? Stop making **** up. They've played on the same team, and hell on the same line together before.

although, I agree with those that have said it was the Sedins carrying that line, not Carter... I wouldn't be surprised if we could have gotten several other players in that role that could have put up similar point totals.

having said that, Carter did his job last year... he wasn't hurt, and there really wasn't a whole lot to complain about with him... he wasn't playing soft, or defensively irresponsible... he wasnt' streaky, or disinterested out there. He did his job all season long. Although playing with the Sedins, that couldn't be hard... everytime they're on the ice, they are usually controlling the puck in the offensive zone, so there isn't much defensive worry with that line... and if it's in the defensive zone, it's usually Henrik or Daniel that are on top of the play and get the puck out quickly.

All Carter had to do last season was worry about positioning... be in the right place at the right time... and he did an excellent job with that... still that's not worth $3+mill. Apparently the canucks are $1mill off of his demand right now, so I'm guessing that Nonis has offered him $2-2.5mill overall, and Carter wants $3-3.5mill, and on a long term deal. Good luck to him elsewhere if he wants that... he's a good player in the right situation, but $$ like that, you need more.
good post I must say!

33 goals aren't easy to find with what's left.

Carter can be a valuable asset. However, not on his own.

He requires players to make him better. That's not to say he's totally unskilled or anything. He's got ability, but he's not going to produce significantly he's paired with someone who can share the workload and make use of his talent. I think the money can be better spent.

People keep saying that the twins made Carter better, and, while I'm sure that that's the case, no one has suggeted that Carter made the twins better. Daniel had only 22 goals and Henrik only 18. Would they have been the success and gotten their rich, new $3.75M contracts if it weren't for having such a good finisher? Where would they be without Carter's 33 goals?

speaking of Anson Carter's blackness, i still laugh when i think about how upon his trade to LA, some posters were greatly anticipating Carter's rough physical play and huge bone-crunching hits, which i suspect was due to him being black....not to mention a gangster and drug dealer too...

Crawford seemed to let them take their time in reaching full potential. I really think it was more of a case of them finally breaking out than of Carter finally making them be all they can be.

I'm thinking of the big zero goals he had in LA in 30 games.

Totally agree...As the roster stands now, I don't think the Kings have the type of player that can make Carter a better player.

Good luck w/ that enormous request of a salary. I hope all teams realize he's not worth that amount. If he had 2-3 seasons of that type of consistant scoring, then maybe. The last few years of play have been too sporadic to warrant that much money, not to mention his off-ice distractions (Hollywood and music).

I'd like to see a gamebreaking 1st line center, or at least someone w/ speed and hands that could every once in a while take it end to end and score if need be.
