Is the ? you asking what else the Sabres should add? On what planet is Robyn Regehr worth a 1st round pick?

Same one where gaustad gets a first, I agree we need to add more.

Well, the Rangers are about as deep on defense as it gets. I guess if we're talking trade deadline time and they're getting thin on defense due to injuries then it could happen.

But I still don't see Regehr fetching a 1st, let alone a young relatively cheap bottom six center who can score some goals and is good on faceoffs. Not to mention you've got the added hurdle or his NTC (or NMC, not sure)

Not to be hypertechnical, but the trade was Gaustad + 2013 4th for NSH 2012 1st. Here, I think you can argue that Boyle has similar value to Regehr, so throwing a 1st on top of it probably kills the deal in its tracks.

I'd do Regehr for Boyle straight up. He's a pretty good defensive player who plays with some grit, can win faceoffs and he's even got some legit skills for a bottom six guy, he scored over 20 goals 2 years ago. This team isn't doing anything this year and getting a guy that fills a need and is under contract for next year would be a good move as far as I'm concerned.

Hey Sabre fans!

I hope you don't mind me posting here, but I was wondering if you could tell me about Drew Stafford?

Things like, how is his ability to play LW? How physical is he? How is his grit? How is his work around the boards? How is his puck protection? Can he score garbage goals around the crease?

Any information you can give me relating to the above stuff and anything similar will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again guys.

Possibly the streakiest scoring winger in the game. He is getting much, much better with his physicality - I cannot emphasize that enough. He's just in a slump, and when he scores he can really score. I still see him is a piece moving forward, unless it upgrades us at wing.

Above average , can be when HE wants to be, grit is alright he is banging the body more this year than any other, he can hold his own around the boards, puck protection is kinda sloppy, he can he just wont go there unless its an odd man rush. If anyone else would like to critique feel free.

I don't think he's ever played LW for us. He's decently physical and can win reasonable board battles, sort of decent in all areas you mention really. He's not a guy that takes dominating control of a shift, but he can create and finish in reasonable circumstances and keep the cycle going when thats the appropriate thing to do. He's really been let down by his linemates so far this year. An above average 2nd Line RW in both look at statistics.

Boyle has looked absolutely horrendous this year but he's worth taking a shot on if the Rangers are willing to move him. Chain's proposal is something I'd look at.

Teams tend to get desperate at the trade deadline and skew values.

If you can convince a team Regehr's not too hampered by injuries or slowing down too much, you might be able to get a 2nd out of him at this time. It would probably take some convincing on Regier's part, though. The last couple years haven't done a lot for Regehr's trade value.

Paul Gaustad had one functioning arm when he was traded for a 1st

I have no doubt Regehr could land a 1st in trade...

Tomorrow or at the deadline? There's a big difference.

Not seeing it: he's old, been injured, and wasn't playing very well beforehand. No one is going to value Regehr as much as Nashville valued Gaustad.

I'm interested in Colin Wilson. I hoped the sabres would draft him.

If we tank, I'd like to move Vanek and Ennis for Wilson and Shea Weber.

Nashville is unlikely to move one cap-crippling contract for another IMO... I wouldn't say no though...

Vanek's contract comes off the books after next year, so it is far from cap crippling.
