Unless I did my math incorrectly, Pominville's the 4th highest scorer among eligible Americans over the past 2.25 seasons. Is he really a tweener?
No. He absolutely should be on this team. He's just severely underrated because his numbers aren't gaudy enough, his team isn't good enough, and he doesn't make many flashy plays.
He's one of the best passers/playmakers available to the US and plays a strong two-way game. I don't see how he misses unless he's injured.
30 goals last season and 2nd amongst Americans in points, and is off to a great start right now. On top of his scoring abilities, he is very solid defensively and is a captain as well. The US team doesn't have enough scoring ability to leave him off the team.
I guess I'm biased, but I don't really understand Carlson over Leddy. Carlson is a year older, so at the moment he has a longer track record and scored the big goal in 2010. But Leddy is the better defenseman right now.

I disagree with only your last point. Did you mean at center/or playmaking? Because Kane, Kessel, Ryan, Kesler, Backes can all put up serious points. Then again Kane Kessel and Ryan are the only real threats coming up the wings.
who are up and comer's around the leauge? (long shots/2018 possibly)...for ducks we have kyle palmeri, emerson etem and gibson in net..i would also throw jones,trouba,jt miller, jack campbell,kreider,kristo (?)....others?

Buff is just not good enough defensively imo. With Suter, Shattenkirk, Yandle and J.Johnson we are good on the pp.
Possible JVR on the off and Ryan moved around too.
Mix and match Kesler and Kane with the bottom two as see fit because of their opposing skillsets. If rosters expand Pominville and maybe, just maybe Seth Jones.

Price and Luongo are just as good as Quick/Miller or Quick/Anderson whatever it is. Most of the elite goaltenders like these guys are basically the same and their stats just change depending on how the team plays in front of them.

Leddy shouldn't even be discussed for this team. They have at least 15 better options defensively.
Jack Johnson is absolutely awful on the defense. He costs his team much more in his own zone than he can produce on the offense. The US has enough quality d-men to leave him off the team.
With your goaltending, your D will probably look better than Canada's, as sad as I am to admit it.
I agree USA's goaltending is better with more depth. But, I am completely comfortable and confident with Carey Price in between the pipes and that he can play as well as any goalie in the world. Fleury, not so much lol.
Who is captain material out of the bunch? Brown, Backes, Callahan only NHL captains.
in 2010 the C was Langenbrunner with A's to Rafalski, Brown, Suter and Parise. So I figure for Sochi Brown, Suter and Parise will battle for the C with the other 2 getting an A, then possibly Callahan getting the other A if they go 4 A's again.
