Didn't read through everything in the thread but I'll answer the original question.
IF we had the chance to draft Seth Jones, that would be insanely HUGE for the organization. Instead of giving up resources and making a lateral movement to acquire a top pairing guy, you're essentially getting that guy for FREE.
I have no doubts Seth with be in the NHL next season.
What I would do is STILL acquire another D-man to ease the transition. Someone mentioned a guy like Brewer and that wouldn't be a bad idea. You could have a Brewer-EJ and Hejda-Jones combo or vice-versa. As long as he's not getting pushed into playing more minutes than he can handle too early.
This is a toxic environment, I would hate to see Seth Jone's confidence ruined being pushed into this sad excuse of defense.
I know it's impossible , but let say we draft Jones , i would like him to stay in Junior for one more year . But i know that it won't happen , because high draft choices usually jump in the NHL right away .

I don't mind him jumping into the NHL right away but boy would this team be foolish to have him jump in without fixing this D or at least bringing in some suitable veteran top 4s. Still got a longs way to go though.
I'd love an explosive forward. I'd also love a franchise defenseman. So basically, if they're drafting in the top 3, they'll come away with someone they need.
Drafting a defenseman that high does scare me though.

oh they need to fix a lot of things , not just the D

I wouldn't mind having another Erik Johnson, even that would help us ton. He was drafted first.
Late to this thread, but going back to the 1st post...throw him in the NHL right away.
He was arguably NHL ready last year...let alone right now...let alone where he will be next fall.
Agreed. Thought I'd read that he'd be too young for LEM, and don't see any benefit letting him idle in juniors. I'd feel confident pairing him with Wilson on 3rd pair or possibly at times Hejda on the 2nd pair.

Murray isnt being rushed in Columbus. I hope when we draft Jones that he will stay one more yr in Junior aswell....so we can draft Connor Mcdavid

Instead of that, maybe we can just re-sign Jeff Shantz and strap him up with some dynamite under his equipment.
