Where's he gonna play? This is a top 6 winger... and your top 9 are already filled... with very skilled guys in the top 6.

On paper Seto was on 4th line, but it's like what Bylsma does with the Pens, putting Glass and Jeffrey with Malkin regularly. He logged 15 minutes of icetime, which is 2nd/3rd tweener icetime. It's just that every forward not on the top line is struggling for some reason. On paper our F depth looks great but not so much on the ice.

The guy had one good year a while ago and has been very mediocre otherwise despite playing with verry talented players. Its a big enough sample size for me to consider him just not that good rather than someone on the verge of breaking out. Fringe top 6 guy on mediocre teams maybe and his contract brings his value even lower, imo.

Yeah, nice try.

Dude has scored 20+ goals almost every season in the NHL. Scored 19 last year on a completely injury riddled team(we set records), and the most offensively anemic team in the NHL. We had Warren freakin Peters as our "top" line C because of so many injuries. Who the hell is that you ask? Exactly....

Before you try to talk about something, you should know about it first instead of mimicking what certain others say and/or pulling "info" out of thin air.

Seto is not a 30 goal scorer.

He is a consistent 20+ scorer on just about any team however, and that puts him into the top 6 on just about any team.

If you have a consistent 30+ goal scorer, that is a top line scorer on just about any team in the league, and THEY ARE RARE!

They also will command contracts generally a lot higher than 3 mil a season.

Seto paired with an allstar center could be a 30g guy. Seto getting constant top 6 minutes is a 20g guy on almost every team in the league.

It's funny when people talk about him 'regressing'... yet refuse to look at the situation. If Shero could somehow get him do I think he'd be a 30+ guy? No. But he'd almost certainly be a 25+ guy, who would have the off chance to pot 30 if everything went perfectly.
