No, we're allowed 3 IR spots. I've only got 1 filled so far and I've seen other members have 2.
Maybe ESPN and Yahoo do it differently, though I remember reading that both base it on the real life IR list.

Hartnell is listed as DTD right now in the yahoo leagues. So that would be the reason why you cant get him on IR in the yahoo leagues.

does anyone remember in the beginning of the year they were talking to one of the trainers who was trying to encourage the team to wear these plastic shells on the outside of their skates, but only 3-4 players were doing it.
I hope hartnell breaking his foot is a way to motivate more players to try them on and wear them for the rest of the season.

Holmgren addressed that prior to the last home game. Around 1:30...

He was at a recent practice but not to participate.
Still scheduled to be out 4-to-6 weeks from January 25.

The bone he broke is weight-baring, so I'd guess they'll play this pretty safe and make sure he gets some skating time before trying to play him. We'll see where this falls in timeframe, but we should have a decent amount of warning on when he'll return because of that need for skating/practice to test the foot.

I was actually thinking earlier "How the hell are they going to evaluate whether he looks healthy enough skating when he looks like a cancer-patient skating in games?"

I'm not sure what to expect from a player who had to undergo back surgery, archilles tendon surgery, and now a dislocated shoulder all within more or less a year.
I really like the way he plays when healthy but the question is what is left of his stellar play after all the mess he had to go through recently?

February 11 updates:
According to Randy Miller,
Scott Hartnell will meet with docs Friday with the hope that he is given permission to resume skating.
Also, from Tim P.:
Quote:
Holmgren: Meszaros still "couple weeks away" from playing. Hartnell on trip with walking boot. Sees the doctor on FRI
The original injury reports:
Hartnell, out 4-to-6 weeks from Jan. 25, surgery to broken toe/foot
Meszaros, could miss 4 weeks from Jan. 25, left shoulder

Meszaros will be skating at tomorrow's (February 14) practice.
Not much info here as to whether contact or not but from Sam @ Inq.:

Good news so Kurtis Foster can get the hell out of the lineup.

Yup, Mezz getting back is just as big as Harts being out. Having Foster and Gervais in lineup at same time is not ideal.

Just cause he skating doesn't mean he's coming back soon. Could easily be a week still but it's good news nonetheless

If mez is skating I don't see how he could be any more than a week away at most.
Coburn-Grossmann
Timonen-Schenn
Meszaros-Gustafsson
Gervais
Or
Coburn-Meszaros
Timonen-Schenn
Grossmann-Gustafsson
Gervais
Are probably our best possible lineups with our roster.

Mez can move up the puck better than Foster and Gervais and same with Gus. I find if they both play in the next week, our offensive game will get a big spark as well.
