Top 6 playmaker to Vancouver

With Kesler being less than a week away from playing and David Booth not to far behind him we could really use a guy who's main strength is being a setup man. I'm looking for someone to buy low on like McArthur and Teddy Purcell but would also look at guys like Blake Wheeler or PA Parenteau.

PAP has 7 goals and 9 points in 10 games and has good chemistry with Dutchy. You're not going to get him for cheap.

MacArthur can be had for a 2nd or a decent level prospect.

Brassard is likely available from the Jackets, not sure what the price would be, probably a 2nd at a minimum though the jackets would likely push hard for a 1st given he's (sadly) one of the top forwards on the team and the only one with real play making ability.

I don't think that's too bad. He can play LW or RW, right?

Thanks but no thanks. With Edler resigned, and so cheaply, he's not going to be traded.

Explain how you would be buying low on Teddy Purcell when he's off to a great start (10 points in 10 games) and is signed to a reasonable deal for the next 3 seasons.

Because of the knee jerk reaction thread from last night about him

I kind of read that particular name as "a situation like how the Leafs got MacArthur or the Lightning got Purcell", as opposed to either or being readily available.

Although Mac for a second isn't terrible.

That Kadri + Bozak + 1st for Luongo deal sure is sounding better and better for the Canucks.

I'm not opposed to Ribero, but nice try. We can get Eakin from Dallas and trade him with a second though

In what fairy tale land would we be wanting that deal? We're off to a 6-2-2 start...

Interesting. Never really thought of Brassard as an option. Doesn't he play mostly center? Could be a good compliment to Kesler and Booth. A 1st probably isn't too much to give tbh.

No exclusively LW forced Kulemin to play on his off-wing.

Damn. Well we could still rock Mac-Kesler-Booth, although Booth is a natural LW he can play RW nearly as well.

You get a big young guy with good hands and very aware defensivly that has top 6 potential, a young skilled offensive D, a blue chip prospect and a second in a deep draft year.

I think that's fair value

Important to note that whoever is being offered must either have a low cap hit or an expiring contract.

Leafs would never have killed their centre depth when it was already horrible, also the first was never offered. We wouldn't accept it either but Toronto would never offer it in the first place, even going into the season
