Montreal has no need for a 4th liner especialy at the cost of Eller. But if I was to make an offer for Boyle, it would be one of Armstrong/White/Weber plus a late pick.
#5/6 solid NHL defenseman who can grow with the team.
And I give you the names of two players with that potential (could have also named Ellis but he's starting to develop a good offensive game) and your response is to name a guy with near guaranteed top six potential, but say you're not flaming? You need to maybe improve on your negotiation skills
The Rangers would be moving Boyle because they have too many NHL forwards. Prospect + pick? Pick? #5/6 solid NHL defenseman who can grow with the team. That's what would interest the Rangers IMO.
Maybe Weber? If Habs had another deal in place to move Eller, or a package involving Eller for a top prospect or top player?

They need a #5/6 defenseman for now, not the future.
Trade erik cole for a young winger either Tyler Toffoli with the kings,Alex Chiasson with the stars or Nino Niederreiter with the islanders, trade Gionta to the pens for one of their young defensemen, trade Markov for David Perron and a pick...........why trade them because you are rebuilding markov and gionta will be in the last year of their contracts next year, obviously bergevin will not let them walk for nothing,he won't re-sign them to 3-4 year contracts so it doesn't take a genius to figure out he will trade them.
Oof, come on man. If this is return you're expecting for a 28 year old 4th liner who's been a healthy scratch this year, you're in for a severe letdown.
I agree with Dharvey33 that you're probably looking at a 3rd rounder at best coming back the other way.

You might be right as players seem to be being dealt for less than HF worth, but Eller was a healthy scratch, too.

He's also 5 years younger than Boyle and I don't think anyone would argue that they have comparable ceilings, so you're not exactly comparing apples to apples there. My point wasn't that "healthy scratch = bad", it was that Brian Boyle being a healthy scratch at this point in his career is not a plus to his trade value.
That may work...unless either team doesn't want to help the other. I don't see Boyle being on his way out necessarily though, he just had a few bad games.

He was left in the press box in the last 2 games I think
If anything I'd rather see Gio be the one to go. He's the oldest of the small frys, we can't keep going with 3 players under 5'8". I'd be willing to letter DD go in the right deal as well for a bigger equally contributing body maybe a right handed center, White our only one
