Funny how long it takes for this reaction to come out.

So what's up with Mikael "Jesus Wasn't This Hyped" Granlund?
I hear he might get or has been sent down to the AHL?

Hilarious!

But he was supposed to take Minny to the promised land.

He is no Suter though...

Who is no Gilbert!

That whole Minnesota team was getting a lot of hype before the season started. Parise and Suter + their hot prospects were supposed to vault them up.

It's of course still early but they are having trouble scoring 5 on 5 as well.

Their PP is 21st overall and you'd think they'd be solid in that area. Minny still can't score enough as they are 25th in the NHL in goals per game.

No doubt they may still improve as the year goes along but as many teams have found out before... you can't just throw big money at a few names and expect instant improvements.

anyone who says we are the biggest homers needs to listen the team radio out of Vancouver. A year from now the Olympics start and they were talking about starting goalie--Unanimous from their guys and the only slam dunk on the team in Luongo in net "No other goalie is as good as him right now and has proven as much as him" Price out of Montreal is looking good and so is crawford. But there are so many goalies around right now that the need to look more at other teams before they make that statement (ignoring the fact the Canucks may or may not move him) MAF from the pens has a few cups rings, Marty B is still around. that guy from the canes and a few others. Sorry, it is not a slam dunk that Luongo is on the team let alone the starter

So, Torres against the Blackhawks tonight.

I hope someone punches that jerks teeth in.

Hey I don't like that he's a Canuck but he's my starter for team canada this moment. With price a close second. Ends there for me. MAF has been shaky for the past few seasons now. So I'd take can ward for the third spot.

Things can change a lot in a year as well. But I'm on the bobby train personally.

I don't see what's wrong with goons. Hockey is entertainment, and goons keep things interesting.

The Hawks are murdering the Coyotes. 4-0 in the first.

Coyotes were such a fluke team last year.

Yes, they were playing the Blue Jackets but so far I'm one for three.

I'm sure the Canucks will take care of business.

Speaking of Vancouver, they're demolishing the Wild 4-0 after 2. With Schnieder in net.

So the Preds are 5-2-3, the Devils are 6-1-3, and the Wild are about to be 4-5-1...

Guess Parise and Suter can't get that team over the hump.

I love watching Mike Smith get lit up. Probably more than any other goalie.

Kings couldn't score last year either but they got away with it because Quick stood on his head all season to squeak them into the playoffs. From there it was playoff hockey which is a different environment.

I know everyone was picking LA again to go far and possibly repeat but honestly I don't see it. I think they have a high chance of missing the whole show this year.

Very tough for a goalie to sustain God-mode for that long.

Can you believe there have been 36 loser points awarded in the NHL already – 23 of them in the Western Conference?
Disgusting.

The way I see it , you have earned 1 point if you are tied after 60 minutes - you should get some reward for being all tied up at the end of regulation. What would be disgusting would be losing the point in a shootout ( ie winner take all for the 2 points). You cant play any more than 5 minutes overtime during the regular season - it wouldnt be practical. Or the league scrap the shootout altogether and teams split the 2 points.

As an Aussie I follow the National Rugby League in Australia, and they have golden point overtime if its a draw after the 80 minutes of a game. There is no loser point and it sucks to see a team play their hearts out for 80 minutes then lose in Golden Point and get nothing.

The NHL method is much better IMO , though the number of western conferences 3 point games this season seems excessive

Or do as it's done in the SEL. 3 points for a win in regulation. 2 points for a win in OT os SO. 1 point for a loss in OT or SO. And 0 points for a loss in regulation. Makes much more sense to me. Benefits the best teams and makes the last couple of minutes of a game more interesting.

Kinda wonder if the NHL phoned both clubs and gave them any warnings. It was sure built up on TSN and had me wondering what would happen if another Bertuzzi situation played out.

Sutter really brought them together, got them focused, even players who had a rep for having some difficulties with professionalism (Richards, Carter, Penner, Doughty) and they were locked in as a team, and really built for the playoffs.

I think the compete level and toughness was just better than anybody else last year, and Quick was on another level.

How the hell did Tambi not get into the bidding for this 24 year old Strathmore Alberta boy who plays NHL defense?
