I'm glad that this tournament is taking place as it's rare to see so many top teams playing at the U17 level in one tournament outside of the U17 World Challenge. Hopefully it goes well and becomes an annual event.

It has previously been a 4 nations tournament though as long as I can remember, no USA.

My mistake. I try to follow most international junior tournaments but I guess this one slipped my mind. This will be the first time the US U17 team has participated though as they've typically played at the Vlad Dzurilla U18 tournament in Slovakia in this time slot in past seasons.

US lost 4-3 to Sweden. Disappointing result considering this Swedish team is missing a good number of the top players in the age group. Obviously the US is missing a few players as well but the built in advantages of the NTDP should offset that.

There are plenty of issues that could be brought up but the biggest question I have is why doesn't Jack Eichel find his way onto the score sheet more? I've seen him enough to know his skill set is exceptional and he seemed to create something every time he was on the ice. Milano and Wilkie aren't nearly as good as him but they seem like they should be good enough to complement him. It's just strange. I'll be interested to see if he gets on the score sheet more if they bring him up to the U18 team later in the year.

I don't think it's a huge deal for this Swedish age group to miss a few guys even if two of them are possible lottery picks. Looks like the Kempe and Lindblom show in the first two games.

Eichel had 12 SOG today and 20 minutes of ice time, second among all players on the ice(both teams).

This version of the swedish u-17 is unusually good i reckon. The swedish 1996-s so far looks like one of our strongest age-groups in a while. (unlike the 1995's that looks a bit weaker than we are used too).

I don't see it posted but games can be followed here: http://www.finhockey.fi/maajoukkueet...-6-10-2-2013-/

Oskar Lindblom looks like a reliable scorer, lead the WU17 tournament in points and has 8 points in three games here so far.

USA - CZE 8-2

I'd like to see Nylander, Andersson, Lindblom, Kempe, A.Karlsson and Forsbacka-Karlsson from this age group to play in the U18 WCH this year. Aho could be a 7th D.

Kempe edged out Lindblom in the scoring race. Extremely impressive 6+6 in 4 games..
