That might be a bit aggressive for people during a work day. Anyone opposed to 8 hour clocks at this point?

Unless I'm missing someone, I believe Anson had the highest WAR of anyone left on the board by a fairly significant amount. It's hard to translate stats for a guy who played in the 1800s, but I'd say he's pretty good value at this round.

I would've liked to pick him, if for no other reason than to have a Klansman on my negro league team

There goes my next pick. Fantastic value at this point in the draft, as is the Anson pick for the record (although his time period makes judgement difficult).

How about I switch to 8 hour time slots next round rather than mid round?

That cool with everyone? We can see how that goes.

Yeah next round is fine. Everyone should get the 12 hours for the rest of this round.

I was thinking of proposing we move to 8 hours after this round too, so I'm fine with it.

i agree - he's definitely old and, a tough one to gauge. however, his stats were to hard to ignore at this stage. he may not knock the ball out of the park but, he certainly can drive in runs (3rd in career RBI's). I think he'll look good batting third in the Reds line-up...

Also, I'm not sure there is much that separates him from Dan Brouthers at this stage (who was a great pick and, someone I would have picked if he were available).

My question now is, where do I put Yount in the batting order?

1. Cool Papa Bell
2. Joe Morgan
3. Cap Anson
4. Johnny Bench
5.
6.
7.
8.
9. Pitcher

Haha really wanted Anson as he was a White Stocking..and has always been a favourite of mine.

13x Top-5 in Batting Average
6x Top-5 in Homeruns
8x Led in RBI's

Personally I would have also gone with Anson over Brouthers, but it's not like a slam dunk or anything. As for Yount, batting him sixth or seventh depending on your next picks seems appropriate to me.

I'm looking to trade down a bit in exchange for moving up next round. If not, I'll make my pick in a few hours.

Confirmed.

The Pittsburgh Crawfords are pleased to select the engine of the tremendous Gas House Gang Cards teams, 2B - Frankie Frisch. The Fordham Flash was a complete player combining speed, pop and a tremendous glove along with leadership qualities evidenced by his status as player/manager. Unfortunately his career overlapped with Hornsby's but ultimately they were dealt for each other after which Frisch went on to lead the Cards to 2 more championships.

- BBHOF (1947)
- 4 Time World Series Champion
- 3 Times Top 3 in MVP Voting (Won 1931)
- 4 Times Top 5 in WAR (inc. pitchers)
- 5 Times Top 5 in Runs Scored (Led League 1924)
- 14 Times Top 5 in Stolen Bases (Led League 3 Times)
- Led League in Fielding % and Range Factor 3 Times

Great pick. He was one of the guys I've been hoping was available at my spot.

Yup. I'm pretty gutted to see both Appling and Frisch go so soon after one another as it will further complicate matters with my middle infield...

The Newark Eagles select 1B Jeff Bagwell

A career .297/.408/.540 hitter with 449 home runs, 488 doubles, and 1529 RBI, Bagwell would be a shoo-in for the Hall of Fame if voters got their awful act together. Bagwell won the 1991 ROY, the 1994 MVP, and made 4 all-star games. He was also reliable defensively, picking up a gold glove award in '94 (although that tells you far less than just watching him navigate the astroturf did.)

Bagwell's career WAR of 76.7 ranks 38th all-time among hitters. And, for the Bill James fans out there, he ranks Bagwell as the 4th best first baseman of all-time.

Very happy with this pick.

Bagwell's career WAR also ranks him with Pete Rose, Rod Carew, and Ken Griffey Jr. on the all-time list and ahead of illustrious names such as Johnny Bench, Brooks Robinson, and Derek Jeter. Very solid first-baseman.

138 - New York Yankees select - SP Curt Schilling

6 x All Star
3 x World Champion
World Series MVP
NLCS MVP
216 career wins
4 x top-4 Cy Young finishes
127 ERA+
2.23 post season ERA

2nd greatest post season pitcher ever behind Koufax. Schilling was unfortunate to have pitched in the same time when Randy Johnson went through his most dominant stretch otherwise he could've been multiple Cy Young winner. In 2001 and 2002 he finished 2nd to Randy Johnson and in 2004 he finished 2nd to Johan Santana.

Schilling will round of what is a very good top-3 of Maddux/Walsh/Schilling.

Bagwell is incredibly underrated. I would have taken him if I hadn't had Pujols.

Well guys its friday, and I will be out. If you could kindly wait until saturday afternoon for me to make my pick that would be great. If you feels it hinders the flow of the draft that's fine too. Just don't expect a selection from me until saturday afternoon.

You should PM Pwnasaurus or one of the guys with your pick if you could. Or a list of preferred selections in the event he gets chosen beforehand.
