Happy Snow Day Grant!

Of the two big d-men, Diaby and Morin, who has the greater offensive potential?

Who would you draft first, Zykov or Nichuskin?

What's holding back Carrier from being an early 2nd?

Is Rychel a good backup plan if Erne is off the board?

I'm jumping on the "lets plunder all the knowledge we can from Grant" war-wagon.

What are your thoughts on some of the more enigmatic euro players from this year's draft?

Have you been able to watch Buchnevich play? If so, what do you think of his potential? Do you think he could adapt his game to the NHL?

What about Arturi Lehkonen? Do you think he's smart/quick enough to find the space to play his sniping game in the NHL?

I'd say Morin has more offensive potential, Diaby has more shutdown potential.

I would draft Zykov before Nichushkin, no questions asked.

Character, hockey sense are what's holding Carrier back, along with injury questions.

Grant, which one of the OHL monster D's do you prefer (Zadorov and Nurse)?

What's your take on Lazar?

Ristolainen or Pulock? Which one would you take first?

Who would you compare Zykov to?

Really? Where do you suppose Zykov will go? What kind of potential do you think Zykov has?

Zad and Nurse are close. Both could be effective NHL shutdown guys, don't see either being big point producers. Both are physical specimens..Zadorov bigger, but Russian....

Lazar will help you win as a solid two-way third line center. Late first for him.

I prefer Pulock, but they're also close. Risto - I would like to see more compete level.

Good to know.
Zykov could go anywhere form 8 to 28 I suppose. You never know how much of the Russian factor will come into play, although in his defence he is already over here, and he plays a NA style, so i would expect him to go before 15. Might be the strongest player in the draft.

Grant, when do you expect Wennberg and Burakowsky to go? Any thoughts about the Swedes in this draft class in general?

I expect them to go in the 10-20 range. I'm a big fan of Wennberg. Love the way he thinks the game.

What about De la Rose? 1st or 2nd round? What do you think of his offensive potential/skating?

Mac & Drouin - top 3
Erne 8-15
Zykov 10-15
Gauthier 7-17
Mantha 15-30
Fucale 20-40
Diaby 30-50
Roy 2nd round
Morin 2nd round
Carrier 40-70
Kostalek 50-70
Poirier 50-70
Sorenson 50-80
Etchegary 3rd round
Duclair 3rd round
Desrosiers 3rd round
Dauphin 3rd round
Dunn 70-100
Hey, why move McCagg's thread here?

The guy is a scout, deserves to keep this kind of thread separate.

Definitely first. A guy with his size that can skate like him and also compete hard is a first rounder in any draft. He can also become a productive player, his hands are soft, he has hockey sense and he likes to throw his body around. Could turn into a new Franzen but could also take an energy role.

For those who didn't know. The Moose/Cats game is on Sportsnet.

So far Drouin has been his usual self. Mackinnon just bursted through Narbonne and Racine to setup Frk for a goal. Showed tremendous speed and acceleration. He also won the board battle down low before.

Fucale has been shaky so far, Jaskin fooled him at the end of the 1st five hole. He also put too much mustard on one save and instead of stopping the play the puck stayed in their zone and the Cats had a few scoring opportunities.

Few "darkhose" palyers as late rounders/invites.

Weegar(52) and Ciampini(48) of halifax, Sweeney(5) and Johnston(48) of Moncton.

Murphy is 2nd/3rd round quality.

Fournier(74) Narbonne(15-Mon) and MacAuley(81) are 20 year olds taht could sign pro. The habs tried to sign MacAuley in September.

Fucale pulled after another shaky goal. Hopefully a goalie needy team picks him before our first rounder.

Can't believe the difference between the mental strength of 2012 Fucale and the current version.

Not a question of mental strength. It's his puck focus and concentration. I questioned it last year and was practically laughed out of the discussion. When the puck is not in a legitimate scoring area or the shot is not a particularly threatening one, Zach tends to drift mentally and allows an easily preventable goal.

And he doesn't recover from these goals either.

He usually bounces back well from bad games...just gives up a high % of goals playing for a powerhouse.

The big test for him will be playoffs...that will determine if he goes 15-30 or 31-45.

They were not deep at center then lost Etchegarry most of the year and Grigorenko since the lock out ended. It's hurt Duclair worst than the others.
