I'd trade Evander Kane for him.

HF has the memory of a goldfish. One game, in which the Pens played the worst team in the NHL (standings-wise), and that suggests that they don't need Letang?

Letang is the only legitimate #1 defenseman on the roster. Guys like Martin, Orpik, Engelland, Niskanen, etc. are solid, in their given roles. But they're not #1 defensemen. They're not dynamic and can't control the flow of the game like Letang can.

I'm not against moving one of the Pens' surplus defensemen for winger help. But not Letang.

Letang is going no where. Neal would go before Letang would.

Actually he does. His name is Xavier Laflamme and he plays for the Halifax Highlanders.

we need to find a way to get him on the Pens just for the fact that he knows how to party. he'd loosen up Crosby in a snap.

Not sure I agree with that one. I think its pretty safe to say neither is going anytime soon though.

Kris Letang is amongst a group of four Penguin players that, imo, are off limits for trade discussion, (Malkin, Crosby, Neal and Letang).

David Jones would look good with Crosby

You can even have Hunwick to sweeten the deal. He's two-way (at least his contract should be)

value-wise it cripples the Pens, so naturally it's good by Leafs standards.

it cripples the leafs offensively and it cripple the pens defensively so yeah No deal from either side - just stating value.

Letang may become expendable down the road if Morrow, Pouliot etc. are kept around and pan out but that's a ways off. He's critical to the team's success currently. The one game last night doesn't prove otherwise. The team struggled mightily at times when he was out over the past couple seasons.

Well he did say a top 6 winger, and michalek is top line winger.
He had 35 goals last year which put him tied for 11th in goals and 2 away from 5th place (37 goals was 5th)
He's 6'2", 225 lbs, blazing fast, plays a great 2 way game and plays a rugged game.

hes not worth letang, i get that - thats why there is a first.
Thread was Letang for legit first line winger.

its hardly an outrage, you dont like it, fine.

That's an object of envy from other 29 GMs. Letang has being at his peak right now and his value is extremely high. Is it worth to keep him when there are several quickly developing d-men knocking the door of the roster?
Teams come together and play without some players all the time, if they win a few does that mean they don't need that player anymore?

Letang in the line-up makes the Penguins a much better team than him gone for good and the team adding another 1st line winger. The ONLY time Letang ever gets traded is if these scenarios present themselves...

1. He asks for a trade.
2. During contract negotiations, Shero and Letang's camp are millions apart.
3. A defenseman or two, step up from within and make him expendable and Shero eyes a chance to score a core top line winger from someone.

None of the situations have presented themselves, could they? Sure, the Staal thing did happen after all and #3 has happened before (Whitney, when Letang & Goligoski stepped up).

Until then, he's staying.
