Donovan/Simon likely gone

"Good as gone
The Calgary Flames may be saying hello to a couple more new faces this summer. It's even more likely they've said their last goodbyes to popular veterans Chris Simon and Shean Donovan."

The headline on Slam sports. Looks Like Donovan and Simon are gone and younger players on the way in.

Nystrom will easily replace Donovan. Brings the same kind of game but maybe with more grit. As for Simon, Flames don't really have anyone in Omaha to replace him but maybe gritty UFA's like Dallas Drake, Mike Grier, Dan Hinote, etc. could be brought in for some sandpaper in the lineup.

Also if Sutter knows the Russians and Ramholt are on the way in that's even more depth. I think it will be an interesting fall camp for the backup goalie spot, #7 dman and 2-3 forward positions.

Youth is good, I think the Flames need a little more on the bottom two lines and on the 3rd defense pairing. With UFA going to 27 years of age or 7 accrrued seasons, young guys will be brought in alot faster than in the past.

Not surprising. I don't think Simon needs replacing either. Thanks, Simon & Donovan.

I have to go along with that and I wish them the best of luck.

I thought that simon was the worst flame this past year. I'm glad to see him go
