New ownership really could be the best thing to happen to the Leafs if you ask me, especially since they have more of an interest in the on-ice product than Teachers did.

[QUOTE=Raym11;58888851]will miss playoffs be around 9-10th. That is if Reimer shows he can be atleast an average #1.

12-14th in east if not

Fans are too ridiculous game by game. the defence is awful.Leafs will make playoffs when/if Gardiner comes up and becomes a proven #1-3 because they have no offence from the blueline and Franson isnt being utilized correctly (guy needs more PP time)[/Q
last year franson was treated very poorly this year i feel carlyle is playing him good this year

Franson has a cannon. I like that he's finally getting some more PP time. I think he could put up 10g a year if given regular PP time

Most overrated player? I think its Phaneuf or Kessel. I firmly believe last year was a fluke year for Kessel, and so fat this year it sure looks that way. I've never been high on Kessel though. Phaneuf has looked bad this year as well.

Do I think they will make playoffs? Nope, goaltending is weak and without Phaneuf playing to the level he's capable of the Defense is weak too. Kessel also should at least be scoring a couple of goals by now. With all 3 areas lacking I don't see them doing much. IMO they need to trade Kessel and some other assets and start a full blown rebuild. No draft better then this one to do it either.
how was last year a fluke year for kessel. he has consistently scored 30 goals in a season every year for the leafs. You may have changed your mind considering he scored last night.

Should they be praised for missing the playoffs for the last decade?

The leafs are 90% crap. 10% good.

So if the media were To fairly report on the leafs, 90% of it should be negative.

But the media is not 90% negative when discussing the leafs. Not nearly that negative. Which p roves that there is a pro leaf bias in the Toronto media.

You're right, more like 98% negative.

It would be nice for the Leafs to make the PO just to see them get swept in 4

Leafs:

Good offense, rough defense, inconsistent goal-tending.

Oddly keep trying to add more offense instead of addressing other holes...

I hate the core of Kessel and Phaneuf, I think Lupul and Grabo are overpaid, and I'm not confident about the goaltending...

What I'm saying is I'm looking forward to Kadri and JVR developing, but not overly optimistic for the next few years...

I'd give a right eye for this team to be competitive, I go to a lot of the home games and would kill for a better atmosphere..

TBH, we're not worried about our defense because we have Rielly, Gardiner, Finn, Blacker, Percy all starting to join the league. Along with a few youngish defensemen in Phaneuf, Gardiner, Holzer, Franson....

A defense in a couple years consisting of:

Rielly-Phaneuf
Gardiner - Finn/Gunnarson
Percy/Holzer/Franson/Blacker

Looks pretty good to me (assuming Rielly reaches or is close to his believed potential)

Most projections like this almost never pan out like expected.

Trades happen, some prospects bust, some come out of nowhere, either way, odds are the D won't look like that in a few years.

A team on the rise. You got 2 potenial studs to build the D around in Gradiner, Rielly, you got a 25 year old sniper, in Kessel you got JVR 23 and looking like a power forward, you got Kadri, who even though it's early so far looks like he could be our #2 center of the future Frattin 24 and a top 6-9 winger with a nose for the net so far. you got Reimer healthy again and returning to his rookie form, you have Komarov 26 leading the NHL in hits.

Most of all you have a GOOD coach. there are parts that can be replaced but the foundation of a good team is there.

Nonis isn't the top tier Gm the Leafs would be wanting. I think Burke has the most hockey IQ and it was a mistake by Leafs management to fire him.
