V for VandeVelde.

Kids gonna score a hat trick, topping his goal total in the AHL this season.

The lines according to the Oiler's website are now listed as:

Hall - Gagner - Hemsky
Hartikainen - RNH - Eberle
MPS - VandeVelde - Yakupov
Eager - Smyth- Petrell

Defence - Same

Thoughts?

I think this could work. Would have liked to see Yakupov on right wing with RNH somehow though.

I suspect it's for one game.

Makes sense.

He takes Belanger's spot until he's off the IR on Sunday.

I'm curious if Paajarvi gets sent down on Sunday or if they keep Smyth at center and send Vande Velde down.

Can we send Smyth down instead?

Hordi to waivers, clears this dilemma. Eventually we have to bite the bullet. Why is a guy that is playing well and drawing penalties being sent down for guys that have no use this year or going forward?

But what would we do without Hordi's 2 minutes every 10 games?

I completely agree.

I really don't see what this organization sees in him.

At least I can understand having 8 d-man. I mean I think very little of Potter, Whitney and Peckham at this point, but at least it's better than calling up teubert or plante.

With Hordi it's like all we are doing is dressing him to get a good view of the game and then playing everyone else more.

Should be interesting to see what injury he suffers in the first period of the game tomorrow.

Awesome news. Arco can stay in the AHL for good. VV is an NHL player.

Love this! I prefer Paajarvi on the right, but I think him and Yakupov will find some chemistry as they are friends off the ice and are both brimming with confidence right now. Excited to see what Yakupov can do on his strong side.

Wait, what? In what universe is CVV better than Arcobello?

I like VV.

At the very least, he's got a bit of size and he'll win a few face-offs.

I prefer MPS on right as well but in this case I think it would be best if Yakupov plays there. Hopefully he can put the puck an inch lower then last game and go bar down from the right side.

I dunno about putting Yak on the 3rd line. He is currently leading the team in goals ya know.

More defensive forward, can handle NHL players better because of his size (didn't look out of place when he was called up last season), win some faceoffs and is a solid PKer.
Arcobello is simply out of his element playing in the NHL, it's blatantly obvious. I'm glad for him that he was able to achieve his dream of playing in the NHL but he's not an NHL player. Arco might be a better AHL player but VV is better equipped to handle the NHL. We're only going to see him for 1 game anyway (i hope) so it's not really a big deal.

... Arcobello can't handle the NHL, VV can.

So, in this universe.

REALLY disagree. CVV really isn't an NHL player either

He has never looked out of place when he gets called up. He's good on the draw and he plays his role as he is expected to play.

Yeah, way too much judging going on based on Arcobello's first game as an Oiler which turned out to be mediocre.
