Ryan Sproul is making a strong push for that title.

Ryan Sproul. Just look at the amount of games he's played and what he has been able to do and it will be obvious.

no one from the Q will win it anyways, but Ouellet hasn't been the best D in the league this year arguably .. Gagne should be an option in this poll

I think the best defensive team in the CHL is the Oil Kings, with Reinhart and Musil leading the charge.

I think these awards get voted on before playoffs, if not, I could see that having an influence.

It's Sproul's to lose at this point with the season he's having, especially since his defensive game has really progressed

I dont know if Sproul is complete enough to win it but the numbers he is putting up are ridiculous

Sproul...

Ceci is awful in his own zone.

Jones and Rielly haven't played enough due to WJC's. Also the Warriors are pure trash this year.

I don't actually think Harrington would win because his offensive totals don't have the "wow" factor needed to take home the award.

However, he did finish second in OHL Defenseman of the Year voting to Dougie Hamilton last season, and has played even better as a shutdown defender this year. So while I doubt he wins, I don't think his name is out of place as a contender.

Karl alzner didn't exactly put up huge numbers either when he won it in the 07-08 season but he did play more games so maybe that had a bit to do with it.

Debatable how much better he is year, and he lacks the offense to really belong in the conversation. CHL Defenseman of the year should at least be a somewhat two way guy.

I'm starting to lean Sproul, kid is just dominating.

Homer vote for Rielly , wish he was traded to a contender! Sproul is probably the front runner...

Hey CHL fans, does Matt Dumba have a chance at this at all? As I understand it, once he got sent back from the Wild stuff at the beginning of the season, he really picked up his play. Is that going to help him out much? Or does he have too much ground to make up?

Thank you!

Ryan Sproul has been a man amongst boys in my viewings of him. Great great pickup for Detroit.
