Him, Jarnkrok and Mrazek are my three favorites right now especially after tonight.

I have a very tight top 3 its between him Ouellet and Jarnkrok, but I might have to make room for Mrazek after tonight this wasn't a good AHL team he beat it was a great NHL team. even if they weren't playing their best. Sheahan is also up there Jurco is no longer in the conversation for top 5

I just like that Sproul is a right-hand shot, wings are desperate to get those in the line-up

I think there is really no difference between our top guys. I take Tartar/Nyquist/Smith out of it because really they are developed.

Jarnkrok, Mazerk, Sheahan, Ouellet, and Sproul are all about equal. We are a very very lucky team.

It's not luck. It's a drafting skill and right choises from management on the long run.

We went like 10 years and any of the right handed guys didn't pan out. Last right-handed prospect (before 2006 drafted Mursak) we have added in this team was Mathieu Dandenault (drafted 1994) !

Now, since Mursak, we have:

W - Jan Mursak - R
D - Max Nicastro - R
F - Landon Ferraro - R
D - Nick Jensen - R
C - Calle Järnkrok - R
W - Teemu Pulkkinen - R
D - Ryan Sproul - R
D - Alexei Marchenko - R
W - Martin Frk - R

We don't know how many of them will push through in the NHL. Maybe half. I strongly believe all of them are not busts.

Exactly. This why it frustrates me so much when the wing's have a bad game here or there and everyone panics and starts demanding "Holland get off his lazy butt and make some trades." If you want anything of worth back you're gonna have to trade some of these kids. I'd much rather develop our own talent and be competitive long term.

If this season is a "rebuild year," and we are still able to compete (and maybe make the playoffs) while waiting for some of our top prospects to be NHL ready. I'd say Holland, Nill, and company are doing a great job. Of course, at some point you're going to actually make room on the roster for these kids.

You cannot dominate every year in a capped league. But if you draft and develop well you can compete every year, and be a serious contender every so often.

Jarnkrok was widely regarded as the best Swede in his draft year but underdeveloped physically, other teams just didn't wanna take on that project with great upside. Even armchair scouts could see from a miles distance that Jarnkrok had more upside than an overager like Wannstrom(who got sent to the ECHL and now is back in Sweden). Can't credit such a pick with luck, it was simply the right decision.

I think luck is always a factor in scouting and the draft. Of course each draft aged player has a certain talent level but luck has its role in how good of a player they eventually end up as.

"I would say it comes down to 30 percent hard work, 30 percent good eyes, and 40 percent luck." - Håkan Andersson on scouting

Speaking of Järnkrok... Now that his team is doing quite bad, could you see him coming over to GR to finish the season when Brynäs drop out? Assuming GR have a somewhat long playoff run.

Sproul's been so ridiculous lately that when i'm looking at stats i'm a little bit disappointed if I see he got less than 3 points

If Sproul keeps this play up he'll have the highest GPG for an OHL defenseman in the past 10 years, and that's as far back as I could look so it could be longer

I've generally been one to rank Sproul ahead of Ouellet due to his offensive skill set. Ouellet definitely has the more well-rounded game but you can brush up Sproul's defensive play with work. You can't teach his offensive skill though, he's simply on another level. The thing is he's always been viewed as raw and he keeps improving. The exciting thing is he's obviously not slowing down at all and is only getting better.

wannstrom over jarnkrok seems very strange.

jarmo kekalainen, STL's top scout, and one of the best in the world, left STL in 2010 to become head of jokerit, but he may have been responsible for picking wannstrom over jarnkrok.

I hope so. I don't like the idea of him sitting out(with a few exhibition games) over 1½ month waiting for the World Champs, assuming he makes it. He would be a great dark horse pickup late in the season for the Griffins.

Yeah, it would be fantastic if he could come over to NA as soon as his season ends.

the Griffins could be scary good if they end up adding Jarnkrok and Sproul(assuming his team loses early in the Playoffs) to the team for a Playoff run

I imagine(well hope anyways) at least one of Tatar/Nyquist will be off the team full time by then but wow

He's pretty much on par with Bobby Sanguinetti who had 29 in 61 a couple years back. Ryan Ellis 24 in 58. The high water mark must be Bryan Berard 31 in 56 in 95/96.

Mike McKee has received a two-game suspension for an elbow against Sioux Falls on 2/1. 1 game for the elbow, and 1 game for repeat offender.
He missed last nights game but apparently will play today in their outdoor game vs Omaha. Will miss next Friday's game as well.

Nedomlel 0+0, -1
Hudon 0+1, +1
Ouellet 0+0, -1, 2 PIM
Jensen 0+1, -2

Nice, haven't seen any recent updates for Greece Lightning so thanks for posting. Good showing by Paterson. I don't know what to make of Frk just yet, I like him better than Tvrdon but I haven't paid close enough attention to him up to this point.

Frk isn't getting much attention these days but his production has turned around after his slow start. I won't know what to make of him until he is out of the Q.

Unlike Sproul, I don't think Ouellet is a player you judge off of points.
