Weiss doesn't seem to be a good fit for either Toronto or Ottawa. The Hawks however will gladly take him and slot him on the 2nd line between 2 of Sharp,Hossa Kane or Saad.A top 6 of SAAD-TOEWS-KANE, SHARP-WEISS-HOSSA would be scary good.Plus Chicago and Florida do have a trading history. The Hawks could definitely put together a package of a roster player(s),prospect(s)and pick(s) that Tallon would like.Being in different conferences makes this more of a possibility.Of course the final price would depend on Weiss signing an extension.
I'm going to hate to see the type of contract this guy gets in the off-season. He'll be 30 y/o and his highest statistical season will have been 61 points but some GM is gonna pay him like $22m over 4 years. I don't want the Leafs with that sort of cap burden and I don't think we're in a position to start offloading talent for rentals either. Maybe if we didn't have Grabovski, otherwise I don't want two overpaid #2 centers.
