I don't think that there is any doubt that MB will move Kaberle if he has a taker but the return will be minimal. I don't foresee anything big happening though.
I don't know if we will see a major trade for a while. The team seems to have lots of spare parts that don't quite fit in and I can see a couple of minor trades rather than anything major.
For a change the team has an identity and I don't think Bergevin wants to mess around with that at the moment. With the pieces he is putting together I would expect any changes would be with a goal for improving the team in the near future (next year) rather than sacrificing potentially good young players to immediately improve the team for the short term.
The spare parts at the moment are Kaberle and Weber but they won't fetch much in return unless a team becomes desperate. I wouldn't mind seeing the team adding some organizational depth at the goaltender position next year. I could see Desjardins as a possibility for low cost backup next year so he would need to be replaced and there isn't much left after that. The draft won't bring us anyone ready to play in Hamilton so maybe that is where a trade would come from
If there is a shift in philosophy with the habs moving forward, I can definitely see some of the small players on the move.
1. David Desharnais--Put Eller between Cole and Pacioretty and send DD to some team willing to give up a rugged defenseman that will crush Steve Ott when he sits on our backup goalie.
2. Brian Gionta, too small, too old and his arms are worn out from that useless slapshot that he always takes. I don't know the return, maybe a younger bigger player that takes useless shots at the goalie.
3. Colby Armstrong-- That nose is not made for the spot light of montreal.
4. A good backup goalie that is not from switzerland.
Bergevin will not trade his captain.
Plus, DD will not be traded if a Quebec player is not coming back.
Colby Armstrong has been signed because Therrien wanted him. He wont be moved.
Only players that could be move this year are : Eller, Weber, Kaberle.

I don't think MB is looking to trade for a 22yo kid demanding in the neighbourhood of 5M per year. Especially someone with only 1 breakout season under his belt. He might be construed as an undesirable, given the new team philosophy.

You are right about Gionta........but not the rest (at least not for the reasons you listed)
that being said he is a valuable commodity and i could definitely see good things from him if he had an actual center...say......galchenyuk.......the price for kessel is gonna be too high for us...but he is exactly what we need...a talented scoring winger.

Last season was the 1st in which Radar was given any cahnce at all to put up points and he's been a defensive stalwart from the moment he stepped on the NHL ice at the tender age of 18. His last seasons offensive output was no fluke.
