This will be a tough one for the Jets. After the melt town against the Leafs they are going up against a much stronger team in their building. I'm always hopeful, but I'm still waiting for this team to demonstrate they are more than just an also ran.

I think it's safe to say no one expects a W today.

Noel catches Pavs flu...vomits in own mouth then leaves the game to sit on throne. Pearn takes over coaching duties, Jets lose 5-0

Even though my brain tells me that having one more bad season to get a very high pick and selling at the deadline to load up on more 2nd rounders could give Chevy the flexibility/ammunition to make this a franchise defining draft, I am unable to ever cheer against the Jets in a given game. I'm not wired that way.

I'm scared of this one.

Ottawa knows where to shoot on Pavs (still thought we might see Montoya in the back of my mind), and Paul Maclean loves the trap.

But we gotta break this curse.... So I'm just asking for the Jets to play with a sense of purpose and serious effort for at least 59 minutes today. Thank you.

The Jets record against Canadian teams is pathetic.
We've been crushed over and over.
0 - 3 vs the West last year.
Ottawa destroyed us and continued that at the opener.
Montreal has our #.
The one team we kind of competed with just stole the last game and only tried for about 2.5 minutes to do it.

Reimer looked like one of the worst goalies I've ever seen.
He couldn't control a rebound if the puck was metal and he was a magnet. Yet we only score 2 goals.

I expect at least 5 or 6 goals against today.
So unless Hainsey has that double hat trick in him... we're in BIG trouble.

Sens fan come in peace; the Sens are starting their much shakier backup and the offense is greatly weakened without Spezza. This game will be a close one, I think; I hope the Sens win but won't be surprised if the Jets do.

Upon arrival in Ottawa yesterday afternoon, Head Coach Claude Noel told TSN 1290, goaltender Ondrej Pavelec is battling the flu and did not practice, so don't be surprised to see Al Montoya start in goal for the Jets.

Based on practice on Friday afternoon in Ottawa, here is what the Jets should start with against the Senators.

Kane-Jokinen-Antropov
Ladd-Little-Wheeler
Ponikarovsky-Burmistrov-Wellwood
Wright-Slater-Thorburn

Enstrom-Postma
Hainsey-Redmond
Clitsome-Stuart

I'm getting worried about Buff. If this is the same knee injury that he limped through last season he will miss a lot of games. If it's chronic just go under the knife and start fresh next season.

Anyone have any idea who the backup goalie is for the Jets today? Big Al could pull something and then what?

Pavelec will be on the bench (apparently) with a barf bag in hand. True story.

Finally his glove hand comes in useful.

You would think if the guy had the flu you would want to keep him away from the team. And how is that going to look if he has to go in for Al and pukes on the way to the goal?

This is the start of a big 10 game stretch for the Jets.

I can see that if the Jets don't play well , they could be really be pretty much done . Looking at the schedule , they could go 3 and 7 , maybe 4 and 6 ( of course they could be above .500 too ) if so they could be looking up at a LOT of teams , if they are buried , and they indeed could be , well then we start focusing on the trade deadline and the draft.

If they play with the malaise they have since that short spurt , I could see one or two or ...significant players moved at the trade deadline.

If guys don't want to be here , they can help get themselves out. Or if they aren't willing to be accountable thet will be asked to leave imo.
