If Anaheim keeps their success up throughout the season and into the playoffs we won't have to worry about Perry signing in Toronto or not. To be honest I think Getzlaf and Perry re-sign regardless.
Goaltenders
Burnside: Oh, the embarrassment of riches that face executive director Steve Yzerman, except, well, in goal. Go figure. But this looks early on to be a potential Achilles heel for the defending gold medalists. Martin Brodeur at almost 42 isn't likely to factor in. Roberto Luongo won the gold in Vancouver but there remain myriad questions, fair or not, about his mental toughness. Right now the best Canadian netminder might be Corey Crawford. Can you imagine that? If Crawford can guide the Blackhawks on a long playoff run in the spring, the potential for his inclusion goes up exponentially. Carey Price will almost certainly be in the mix but what of former Cup winner Marc-Andre Fleury, who was the third goalie in Vancouver and was the best goalie on the planet between the 2008 and 2009 playoffs? Or what of Mike Smith, who was so good a year ago in leading the Phoenix Coyotes to the Western Conference finals? Lots of questions.

Franson is an RFA next year. To your point regarding Perry, his dad works for the OPP here in Durham, and I have freinds in the OPP and Durham Regional Police. Apparently his dad said, Corey would like to play in Toronto, and he spends time in London as well. Its not a given Corey would come to Toronto, but there seems to be some interest there.
RFA or not, it doesn't mean Franson wont have a say in the outcome of his situation if he again, doesn't see minutes. (I should have read the finer notes on the Franson deal, my first impression was he's was eligible for UFA, didn't crunch the numbers).
As for Perry, that is absolutely correct.
He does have interest to play in Toronto, but if Ducks management shells out the necessary coin, why uproot yourself from the only thing you've really ever known and have had success in before and are having success in currently?
If Ducks management shows long term commitment to competing and spending money, then I don't really see Corey or Getzlaf going elsewhere.

I didn't say that, but your value is way off. Why would we deal with Montreal for Galchenyuk, if we could get a better package from a different team? Think Couturier +, you can try again though.
IMO, Franson is going to be Jason Smith 2.0, why he isn't used more boggles my mind?
Holzer is more like Jason Smith not Franson.... Really there's one area he should be used more and that's the PP. It's in this area where he becomes a great value to a team... The first team that will implement Franson on the 1st PP unit will be the first team to get the best out of Cody Franson. Lets just hope it's with the Leafs sooner rather than later cause when he gets the opportunity to be a fixture on the 1st PP for a team look out.
I'm a big fan of Phaneuf and will say this much about Franson he should be the trigger man on the 1st PP

completely agree about the #1 PP, my reference to Jason Smith was how the Leafs gave away a guy who could play defence at a high level, but for whatever reason wasn't appreciated by Leaf Management/Coaching Staff.

i like ur enthusiasm BUT only the Blues deal makes ANY SENSE IMO
You're nuts. I would do the STL, LA, PHI and COL deals. Pretty sure none of those teams would though. In every case we are getting at least one very good young player with a tonne of team control. Kessel has a year and a half left on his deal, we would be lucky to get any of these packages.

The PHI deal would be amazing. Couturier and Simmonds would do wonders in Carlyle's system.
LOL at people saying no to Kessel for Galchenyuk. Why am I not surprised? I'd do that deal in a second and so would anyone else not wearing rose-colored glasses.
