I really dont want to be trading high draft picks either. Enough of this "its only a 2nd rounder" for rentals.
Guys just need to to start playing the way they are capable of.
For possibly the first time in recent history that type of move actually worked last year when we got Grossmann, who has been very good.
In general though, yes, we need to stop trading draft picks.
He's a kid who will keep working and fighting until he makes the NHL, albeit in a limited role. Berube 2.0.
I have to admit that he seems very tenacious. When we drafted him I thought we had another Klotz (although I was impressed with his fists before the draft), but he seems to really have a lot of drive. Sort of a Tony Twist kind of guy

He's a pretty smart fighter. He uses his size and reach to his advantage. I can't find a video of him clearly getting beat in a fight.
great to hear Laughton is putting up some points. i was hoping he'd gain some confidence after how well he played with the flyers. i was surprised to see how skilled he looked offensively considering he hasn't been an offensive force down there.

it would be nice if he were a Darren McCarty type that could play a regular shift.
Nick Cousins scored a goal and picked up an assist tonight.
Scott Laughton scored a goal and picked up 2 assists tonight. He's got 10 points in his first 4 games since getting sent down from the Flyers.
Nick Cousins is very quietly leading the league in assists and points, and was named player of the month for January. Hear from almost everyone that they don't think his offense will translate - and it may not, but a third-line pest center that can be counted on for real minutes would be nice.
I'll be watching Laughton and Cousins play each other tomorrow live, pretty excited!

There's a thread on the prospects board about him. It's hard to get a good judgement on him because most of the posters in the thread just discredit his talents because of his off the ice behavior.

Well, considering what he's going through off the ice, the on-ice production is impressive. He must be hearing about it in every rink, but he keeps plugging away.

He didn't even put a Flyers jersey on yet and he's already one of the most hated prospects.

Part of the reason that Laughton hasn't been an "offensive force" (even though he's averaging over a point per game) is that Oshawa is Boone Jenner's club. Jenner will always get top power play time, top ice time, etc.....and I get it. Once Jenner is in Columbus or the AHL, Laughton will be given an opportunity to the make the Generals his club and he'll benefit accordingly.
Has this been posted elsewhere?. Leighton has an upper body injury and is out for 7-10 days, Boucher recalled:

Goaltender Brian Boucher has been recalled from Adirondack. Appears Michael Leighton has an injury. Boucher has been excellent in AHL.
