Brian Leetch - No. Too old and we have 7 D on our roster.
Brad Isbister - No. Bad.
Chris Simon (added toughness up front) - I like the guy if he's cheap, but unnecessary.
Jan Hrdina - No.
Shanny (of course) - I'd take him.
Radek Dvorak - I'd rather see Kostitsyn or Latendresse in the line-up.
Mike Peca - I guess I'd take him, but not likely at all to happen.
Sergi Samsanov - I'd take him, even if he's small and injury-prone.
Yanic Perrault - No thanks. I'll keep Ribeiro (and that says a lot)
Victor Kozlov - No thanks, unless really really cheap as added depth.
Tom Poti - No, and we have 7 D.
Petr Sykora - Interesting, but would have to be cheap. Not the biggest fan of his.
Vaclav Varada - No.
Chris Therien - No.
Anson Carter - Looking for $3M per year. Had a good season, but don't want him at that price.

ouch........nothing earth shattering. Sykora might be alright but not alot of grit. My concern is what happens when the injuries start to pile up. Last December was a disaster.

my thought is that you and several others are desperate... really desperate for just anything to happen. being a huge fan myself, i understand where you're coming from, but a desperado is one thing i refuse to be.

I can see it happening: tomorrow, 2 or 3 guys on your list get signed, and you'll create a new thread that has a new list without them, and say "well, there's still a few good choices guys. Discuss"

that being said, unless Shanny comes for a decent price, I'd say HELL NO to all those.

These are my thoughts:

No.

I'm content with the team we've already got. There's nothing out there worth signing and forfeiting a seat on the bench. I'd rather give some prospects more icetime. I don't think anyone (realistically) expects us to win the Cup next season.

Anson Carter would be great. Shanny as well. I wouldn't mind seeing Peca either, but he is not going to provide the offense the habs need, but he would be good on the 3rd line or something. Sergi Samsanov for sure! Yanic Perrault - not again. Tom Poti - no thanks. Brad Isbister - might be good if he came cheap, but might be taking playing time away for skilled younger players.

I'd rather put Kostitsyn in the line-up so that he would learn what's the NHL than to take one of these guys who would stay in the team for 2 years...

Or Latendresse, of course

Alex Tanguay signed with Calgary. Even he doesn't want to come to Montréal. So much for a French accent to the team (except for Huet, who has a real one). Bring on the Russkies! The Czechs! The Finns! The Swedes! They're not looking for golf and surfing first and hockey as an afterthought.

Are you for real?

Tanguay was RFA

P.S. I sure hope that was sarcasm

Didn't Peca re-sign with the Islanders?

Or am I mistaken?

Is Leetch that bad now? He could mentor a Markov or even pair him with Komi. He is still a great skater, and would be great on the 2nd pp unit.
Even at that age he could still help, if the price was not ridiculous of course. If memory is right, he still had a good year although injured most of it.
