Outside of Justin Schultz's play and Khabibulin's effort there are no positives to report. The Red Wings executed a near-perfect gameplan against the Oilers on their PK but lets be honest, shutting the Oilers' *cough* offense down isn't exactly rocket science.
If you can't score at ES, you can't win. Simple as that. Florida has scored more at ES than us. We're sitting dead last at ES GF. There will be games where our PP doesn't look good, and in those games we'll have to get goals the good ol' fashion way. At ES.
Right now we're not scoring there and this is why we're losing. A PP can only take you so far. We saw last year. Top-15 in special teams in both categories, and bottom 5 at ES, and we finished 2nd last.
Figure out how to score at ES if you want to go somewhere.

It was a 2-1 game. They played hard outside of the first period. We had lots of chances that didn't go in, on that last powerplay we had 3 missed nets that were very close shots. I understand everyones frustration that the team isn't winning, but I tend to think people are really overreacting.
Who is over-reacting? They have lost 5 in a row. Have only once in 11 games scored 4 goals in a game, and that was because of an empty netter. Eberle is doing squat. Nuge can't even come within a foot of hitting the net on any of his shots. Same garbage players on D constantly getting ice time game in and game out. 5-3 pp in the 3rd with the game tied and don't even come close to scoring. 6-4 at the end of the game and don't even come close to scoring.
