So sick of losing.

I was so pumped up for this short season and I thought the Oilers would have a chance seeing as how the first unit PP has been playing together most of the season.

Its the same team, same crap, all over again, and this fan base is sick of it!

Such BS

The team is a ****ing disgrace, there's no other way around it.
This "rebuild" is going nowhere fast and please oh please don't give the "But the team is 4-4-3 yet people still complain" excuse. There is not one game this season NOT ONE where i came away thinking that they clearly outplayed the other team.
Even in the wins, they need lucky bounces and have to grind out like crazy to get anything done and the losses just look absolutely awful outside of the 2nd San Jose loss. I'm fed up with this crap year after year. When are we supposed to see the improvement? When are they taking "the next step"?

I have never been one to complain too much about the team before this season and i expected a roller coaster ride this season but there is so much more bad than good going on and they have the same EXACT bad habits that they had in years past. It doesn't matter who's coaching and what personnel they bring in, there just seems to be a losers culture feel to this team still that they are having a hard time shaking. The frustration is visible amongst the skilled players. Gross.

Lol everyone relax - those are famous words of people who have been conditioned to losing and are happy with our competitive/close losses.

Why don't we really score? Why is it always 1 or 2 goals a night with a lucky 3? This team sucks offensively. A lot of over hyped young talent that doesn't deliver.... Hall can't score goals.... Nugent Hopkins having all kinds of issues... Nail is the best scorer but has about tapped what he can do this year.... Ebs has cooled off... These guys just aren't that good to be honest

They should just use Paajarvi in Whitney's spot.

He's got a good hard slapshot and actually shows decent offensive touch on the PP.

He's probably more defensively responsible when it comes to shorthanded chances too.

Hard too do when Whitney is constantly looking off Yakupov. Get this piece of **** off the team.

It's like that every loss though.

Yeah, special teams killed us.

Yeah, we've lost 5 in a row.

Oh well. Considering we got some points from those losses, and we haven't gotten blown out, I'm not too pissed off.

5-on-3 and we don't put Hemsky out there with Schultz? Has no one noticed how that #1 unit looks 2-3x more dangerous with Hemsky out there?

Even with the EN - no Hemsky out as the extra attacker? My mind is being blown. Arguably our best forward offensively in the last 4-5 games and he keeps getting the shaft. The guy is absolutely flying out there.

Also - why the **** is Whitney on the ice for PP's when we have Jeff Petry with his capable passing, hockey IQ, and big-time shot sitting on the bench?

My mind = blown. Inability for this team to score on 5-on-5 is killing us.

RNH is a beastly center. He's going to reach the mold of Kopitar/Backstrom soon in terms of 2-way dominance when on the ice.

That being said, if we can get 2 points vs Columbus tomorrow I can say we are actually sitting at "average" in terms of our performance so far this season, based on points accumulated vs. the opponents that we've faced.

last year we finished 8 games under .500.

right now we're .500.

if we finished this year .500 i'd call that an improvement.

it's only the purely delusional who think this team is a lock for the playoffs.

This feels just like last season. Start out a few games above .500, hopes quickly dashed. These guys are definitely not going to the playoffs.
Someone needs to sit Hall down and tell him he's no Datsyuk or Malkin. He doesn't have the hockey IQ to do those dangle plays. His play should be to chip off the boards and outrace the player for the puck, or drive with it to the outside.

The only positives from this game is how great RNH was defensively. Hall impressed me with his back checks as well.
Personally I was getting sick and tired of listening to Lee and Millen gush over his wonderful defensive play. I was really happy with it early on but enough is enough. He's in the line-up to set up goals and ****ing score goals.

I'm not sure why we continue to run 5 on 3s with two players behind the net, passing back and forth until the point opens up.

Every team in the league has to know about it by now.

We'll just keep getting top 3 picks until one of them can lift the franchise, lol.

Is it really .500 if you're counting overtime and shoot-out losses as ties?

They're not .500. Not even close. A team that wins about half of their games, losing a few along the way in shoot-outs and overtime, are teams that can be called middle of the pack, competitive teams. They're clearly not there yet. Might step up to that level sometime during the season... but it may be too late by then.

For everyone saying to relax.

It is one thing to lose are hard fought game. Detroit gave us a #$%^ load of chanes, because their D isn't good at all.

We do nothing with the chances we were given 5 games in a row the team still doesn't ........wait for it

SHOOT.

ps - whining about Whitney passing to Yak isnt going to save this teams deficiency in disciplined structure. we're a slop machine from top to bottom. getting out of the zone most of the time is a struggle from terrible giveaways and slow decisions.
