Defense

With the plethora of top 6 defense men that dallas has do any of you think a trade may be in the works? The Stars took the option on Klemms contract so it seems like they have a plan.

Zubov
Boucher
Sydor
Modry
Niinimaa
Robidas
Daley
Klemm

I am guessing you are ready to move off Janne or Daley but is there potential for Boucher or Zubov to be moved? Obviously I am of interest as the oilers recently dealt Pronger away and got a decent return but no one to take Prongers spot.

I am not sure of your salary cap situation but you dumped Guerin and Arnott is gone so I am guessing you are in good shape salary wise but are missing a second line center and a top six winger.

Any trade ideas? Can someone update me on contract situations for these players.

there's no chance Zubov will be moved....and and also very slim for Boucher & Daley
Niinimaa should be the guy Dallas wants out, Robidas most likely the guy the other teams are most interested in (without Zubi, Daley, Boucher)

iirc, it's:

Zubov - 4 mil -2008
Boucher - 2.5 mil -2009
Sydor - 2.1 mil -2007
Modry - 1.8 mil -2007
Niinimaa - 2.4 mil - 2007
Robidas - ~750k -2007
Daley - RFA
Klemm - 1mil till 2007

Boucher is locked up to a good contract. Nice work.

Langkow plays for the flames.

Robidas is only making $550K. That's why I think he's the most attractive guy to trade.

I expect Daley not to get a huge raise, but secure a 1-way deal instead, especially with all the D they now have.

Zubov obviously is un-tradeable because of his no-trade clause and #1 status.

I think, honestly, Boucher is the most valuable asset on the Stars blueline. I don't think other team's fans realize just how clutch and all-around solid he is. But, I would hate to move him, myself. I think he might be worth more to us than he would be worth in a trade.

The reason I question Robidas's value is he's just barely been a 3rd pairing guy the past few seasons. I think he would just not get much return, cheap cost or otherwise.

Probably. I'd still rather see us get an actual player in return, though, if Armstrong isn't going to sign any other UFA's.

What are you in the market for? Existing roster players or prospects?

Well I'm a bit wary of our top 6 right now, it could definitely be improved, and shopping a blueliner (or two) wouldn't hurt if we get a good return. Something like Torres from Edmonton, or maybe even Gionta from New Jersey.

Gomez is my hope maybe for a high pick since we have an extra 2 next year and Fransson who we cannot seem to get over

Gomez would be a great addition here. Not sure if we have what it takes to get him but NJ will likely have to make some moves.
