Superstars are the very best in the NHL. Vatanen is not that.

Come on Eenok. Vatanen is a borderline NHL prospect right now. I personally think that Anaheim should trade Vatanen as he could easily fetch a third round pick in a trade for his AHL play. His stock will drop fast from now on as he gets more chances in the NHL. A couple of years from now he will most probably be playing in Europe.

Guessing Fowler will join the team in Chicago.

I'd rather risk losing a 3rd and hold on to Vatanen. His skillset is far too intriguing to just toss him away. Defensemen his size usually take a bit of time to make it, and he is only 21.

That's either good news for Lindholm or Fowler.

Is it too much to hope for both?

Hopefully Admiral Al is right and Lindholm is getting close. This is the 2nd time he's been correct.

Good. The over zealous praise of Vatanen was getting very annoying. Should we trade him? No. But he wasn't ready this year.

Lindholm is a very young defenceman who has just had two concussions. Do ducks fans think he's going to be a big impact player right away? I wouldn't expect him to bring much more to the table than Vatanen did right now. Obviously he is very promising though. Hopefully he and Fowler are healthy soon.

It could be both. Lindholm is getting closer and Fowler may be close as well.

Many defensemen have established themselves even younger. Fowler and Karlsson for example. How many examples are there of defensemen making the NHL over 23 years old and becoming top four D. I know there are many of those who make their way to the bottom pairing at older age, Vatanen just doesn't fit well to defensive bottom pairings. It's either top four or off to Europe for Vatanen.

Stephens just now realizing that JDD was recalled. He has to be the least-connected beat writer in the game.

Players like Fowler and Karlsson are the exceptions to the rule. They are players who -can- make the NHL on skill alone, before they are physically ready, and even they had their struggles early on. As talented as Vatanen is, he isn't at their level, and to top it off he's just small too. As for your question, you might be surprised. Rafalski and Visnovsky come to mind.

If I remember right second small fin K. Timonen jump in NHL after one or two years in AHL. He was something about 25 when start playing full NHL games and big minutes comes when he was closer 30 than 20.

I won't speak for anyone else, but based on his performance in Norfolk, I definitely consider it possible. Lindholm just brought a more complete game, and with every game you you could see his confidence grow and he was that much better. Bottom line, for the role available? I think Lindholm has a better chance of sticking. Whether he should... I can't say.

Anaheim was just flat. They've had flat games before, and that was even with puck movers.

Why would they change a winning formula? Thats pretty odd. And now Sami was a healthy scratch and they lost. Im not saying Sami is the reason they were winning, ofc not. Still its odd that they'd just change a winning team.

Boudreau Im dissappoint.

Sami has NHL caliber skill, and he'll be back better and stronger.

Oh em gee. He played three uneventful games. He showed some promise and he also showed why he's not ready. This is beyond ridiculous. I'm kind of starting to hate him.

Winning games doesn't mean you don't make adjustments. In this case Lovejoy was picked up, and he makes more sense for the role Anaheim has available.

Sami has NHL caliber skill, but that isn't the same as being an NHL player. It's the latter that he needs to show. Boudreau probably didn't feel comfortable having to cut the 3rd D pairing's ice time just so Vatanen could play, but he felt the need to do so to avoid putting Vatanen in a bad spot.
