Yeah, I admit I didn't like Errey when he first started but he's really grown on me over the years.

His excitement about Tangradi's skating is one of my faves. He was between the benches for a Caps/Pens game a few years ago when the Caps scored and Ovechkin was doing his usual huge celebration and Errey basically said something along the lines of he'd like to punch Ovechkin in the head.

Last week. "Oh and he goes down like a big redwood tree."

You know, because a tree that stand hundreds of feet tall is exactly like a hockey player.

I like Errey just because he's out there. Steigerwald can go somewhere I'd never have to see him again.

They should let Errey do a broadcast blissed out on E, just to see how Clueless Old Steigy responds.

I haven't made it a secret at least. I love cheesy and corny. Way better than professional and boring. I'm ok with excited guys like Doc at least. But when you are praising guys like the MSG announcers I just can't understand how someone could enjoy listening to guys who are so boring.

On topic. Suck on That is his best on air moment ainec. the next best is freaking out about gary roberts drinking the water

I like campy and corny as well as long the talent to call a good game is present. I agree with Ogre, not a fan of the boring, corporate "DJ voice" announcer.

And I think Errey fits into that campy and corny mold as well with Lange and Bourque. Steigy just doesn't have any talent to call a game imo. And he really isn't campy or corny. More like a jock sniffing, 100% parochial, play by play wannabe. I think he got the job as a sort of lifetime achievement award in the Pen's organization/willing to work ridiculously cheap relative to others in the business. Other than that, I think he is great.

I love these games where the 3rd period is just a formality, and Bob can talk about things like noses.

I don't doubt it. They probably make you wish for Bob Euker, eh?

That too.

That's one way to put it. Another way would be "Wow that guy really had bad judgement." A third way would be "Wow did he just make a joke about a guy who died in a plane crash; what's next a Shanksville joke..?" or... was it only funny because it was only one person and a long time ago?

The MSG guys are very good at going with the flow of the game. As the game gets more pitched and intense, they do too and they do a great job of keeping the commentary relevant without losing the PBP call. They put Steigy and Errey (and the doofii from NJ) to shame. Emrick is good too. Like it or not he's pretty much "the voice of hockey" in America right now. But he genuinelly loves the game and you can tell. He wants fans to get into it. He's not just up there filling air time like Steigerwald.

Hahah. I could actually picture him saying that.

Yah... glad I wasn't the only one who caught that. If we all had a dollar for every time Errey made a phallic reference, we could safely retire and buy a cabin up at our respective lakes.

They do stick to the game, which I have said over and over is Steiggy's problem. Well, Steiggy has a ton of problems. But that's his biggest. They are still boring and they are still homers.

And I love Doc. Him and Errey would be like a dream

It would beee... different. Let's say that. I wouldn't mind seeing Doc's reactions to one of Errey's nutball comments. The reaction has the potential to be funnier than Errey.

Emrick worked with Chico Resch for years, who is a bit of a nutball himself. I can't think of too many other color commentators in any sport who've done a recurring feature about . . . eating various things.

I think the fact that Doc would consistently call the game would largely keep the things you don't like about Errey in check. He would have less dead time to fill and less ridiculous Steigy comments to follow up on.
