Well, the isles think Nino has 30 goal potential. Despite calls from Nino, his agent and opposing fans for Nino to be traded, Snow shows no desire to trade Nino.

Yeah...no. Tavares is better than anyone of the Oilers Top guys. If Tavares was traded, at least one of Hall, Eberle, RNH or Yakupov is going back.

F - Nino Niederreiter (swiss connection with Oiler Coach Krueger)
F - Marty Reasoner (golden in the face-off department and Oilers need depth @ Center with the rash of injuries)
F - Kyle Okposo

But what would it take to get them? can't see anything of substance from the Oilers squad that Garth Snow would entertain in return.

The obvious Oiler dump is Paajarvi, but I don't see where he fits with the Islanders, and what else to add to the deal.

Does the following work?

F - M.Paajarvi 1.5mil (RFA at seasons end)
D - R.Whitney 4.0mil (UFA at seasons end)
FOR
F - N.Niederreiter 1.9mil (RFA in 2014)
D - M.Streit 4.1mil (UFA at seasons end)

Don't really think this move helps either then a change of scenery, its more of a lateral move for both clubs as salaries are almost a wash, where one teams failed prospect for another teams failed prospect.

Why? Nabby's done a good job for the isles. No need to flip him.

I think we agreed to an Eklund 36 hour rule to discuss his ramblings and then the thread gets locked

Yakupov is leading the Oilers in goals and was just drafted 1st overall, don't see him being traded, unless this is some kind of earth shattering huge deal with other players and Tavares involved (which isn't happening either).

Oilers are probably digging around Nino and/or Okposo if this has any truth to it.

I believe coach Krueger coached Nino on the Swiss team.

Here's a name not nearly being mentioned enough in this thread: Griffin Reinhart.

This past summer, the Oilers thought so highly of Reinhart they were considering taking him 1st overall instead of Yakupov.

I wouldn't want to give Griff up for peanuts obviously, but if this deal is as big as Eklund is making it out to be, I could easily see him being a major piece going back to Edmonton.

I'm not a scout of course, but every time I've seen Reinhart play I've been disappointed. He's at least not very close to NHL ready, and so I would HOPE the Oilers pass on him because of that.

Of course, they wouldn't...

Could see Streit and Okposo being available and possibly of interest to EDM.

Could see Paarjarvi and Gagner being available and possibly of interest to NYI.

In general though, Snow would be looking for players he feels could complement JT, likely on the right wing side.

One would think...

With Horcoff out for 2 months and Belanger injured, Reasoner for a pick makes sense.

If Gagner is dealt a center would have to be coming back as most of our centers are hurt or playing hurt (RNH). We literally don't have any depth at that position at all, Ryan Smyth is playing center right now for us.

We just went on a freak run where we lost 4 centers to consecutive injuries in like 3 or 4 games, lol.

Ales Hemsky is basically the player you described and he likely is available for the right return.

Hemsky + MPS
for
Okposo + Nino

Maybe.

Why in the hell would the Islanders do this? Not a fan of either team but some of these proposals from EDM fans are hilarious
