This website is good for 2 things. Proposals that lack basic logic and responses to those proposals that lack common sense.

Funny, Ovechkin is extremely better than Nash and we're talking about Washington not Columbus.

Ribeiro + Chimera to Chicago at deadline is best possible fit

Hawks need #2 C and another bottom 6 winger ,, Hawks have interesting mix of prospects to offer Caps (As well as a low 1st round pick)

Sorry but your not getting Danault + 1st for 2 UFA's and a struggling backup goalie

At this point I am more comfortable with Emery then Neuvirth who has looked poor from Cap games I have seen

Pretty big accomplishment by Neuvirth as before start of year I was more comfortable with an empty net then Emery

Something like Hawks 1st + Morin/Pirri + Beach for Ribeiro/Chimera is more reasonable

It's only 1 UFA, Chimera is signed one more year at a very nice $1,75M deal.

2nd + Danault/McNeill + Johns?

I'd prefer to make a deal strictly on futures for him if you'd go for that.
1st + decent prospect.

as a rule when a team blows it up and rebuilds its because the team is full of expiring contracts and 30+ year old players.

when you rebuild you want young players in their early twenties to add to your team. players like carlson and alzner and forsburg and kuznetsov and orlov and holtby and neuvirth. as a rule you dont trade your established players under contract in their mid twenties.

this would suggest that the caps keep their goalies. they keep alzner, carlson, green and orlov. they keep ovechkin, backstrom, laich, beagle and johansson.

pending ufa's like ribeiro at the top end and hamrlik at the bottom end may well be on the market.

its possible that a carter/richards style shake up could happen, but that would effect the big contracts like 8 and 19. btw...if the caps are convinced that ovechkin is going to be a 25 goal scorer from here out, the $10m in cap space they would get for trading him for prospects would allow them to land a 30+ goal scorer on the ufa market at least.

question. if the caps did this, how many rookies do you see the caps putting in their nhl lineup at once?

maybe 1-2? Just because their traded to your team doesn't mean I automatically want them on the roster. But the Caps need depth both down the middle and on defense where they have almost no promising prospects.

Is that why he's played the 3rd most minutes in the NHL and has been on the ice for only 7 goals against? And that's in front of awful goaltending and while playing against the opponents' top lines.
