C'mon. Do you think other teams don't have scouts? that Whitney's chronic ankle/foot injury and his struggles this season are unknowm?

Isles who are looking for pts from their blue, aren't exchanging a heathy Streit for a less talented Whitney with injury problems.

I'm not even sure I buy that they will add a $5m salary. It's more along the lines of "I'll believe it when I see it".

I think a trade around MPS and Nino makes the most sense.

Oh. That's entirely known. And it ain't good.

I think Thomas to Edmonton makes a lot of sense and contingent on Thomas coming back to play this year.

Well since Whitney's chronic ankle/foot problem is known, do you really think the NYI would exchange Streit for Whitney?

I'd rather reward Nino for his whining, by calling him up and putting him on Tavares wing, then waste him on a short term trade in a 48 game season.

Put it this way. His ankle is fine. It's his resulting performance since then that's the question. He's incredibly slow and has a hard time make smart defensive plays. But he has a great outlet pass and a decent shot. So take it for what it's worth.

People listing Hall, Eberle, Smid, Hamonic and a goalie going to Edmonton are wrong.

Smid isnt moving. Oilers love him, he loves Edmonton.

Dubnyk has around a 930 sv % and is lights out. Nothing says the Oilers do not like Dubey.

The others are obvious.

Isles are asking their blueliners to add scoring, especially on the pp. They have no reason to want to exchange Streit for Whitney.

Who intentionally makes a a trade to add a lesser talented, slower and less productive player?

Hemsky is signed for next year as well and if the Oil pick up part of his salary (not sure what the max is, 1.67 I think???), then Hemsky @ 3.33 is a bargain. I think he would compliment JT and Moulson quite well, and the only thing the Isles would be subtracting from their lineup is Reasoner. Long term the Oilers could win the deal, but I think it would be a win right now for the Isles. Or do you not see Hemsky being a (much) better option on your 1st line than NN?

Entirely depends on what you're looking for. Streit is an offensive D who is typically very solid in his own zone as well. Smid is a defensive specialist without the offense. Different players for different needs.

I realize Hemsky is signed for next season and in the short term, would be a better move then Nino/Nelson/Strome on Tavares rw.

Just like Streit for Oscar Klefbom would be a better short term move for the Oilers, then playing one of their AHL or junior prospects on the Oilers blueline..

I don't want my team's top prospects traded for short term moves. I'm gonna guess, that not many Oiler fans are interested, in my Streit for Oscar Klefbom proposal.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Okposo traded.

I like him and I think he would maybe see more success elsewhere.

No idea. Their salaries are identical and are both UFAs next year.

Just to interject, but isn't Klefbom out for the year with an injury? I forget what it was, shoulder?

Otherwise, your argument is valid and I agree.

Maybe. For someone like Goligoski this summer I'd guess. Both Streit and Vis are gonna leave as ufas.

I didn't realize he'd had a shoulder injury.

I'd probably want Snow to stay away. De haan's shoulder injuries are enough of a worry.

No, I wouldn't want Streit for Klefbom, but they aren't quite the same in that:

A) Hemsky is 29 and signed for another year, Streit is 35 and UFA.

B) Klefbom hasn't asked to be traded out of our organization.

oilers trade klefbom for a soon to be UFA I may jump on a plane, head back to Edmonton and kick the crap out of whomever did the trade

I have sen him play and he is a stud in the making

gave found a flaw in what ek posted (I said I would not bash him for 36hours--but it is a flaw) Why would they wait to announce the trade before the game tomorrow and not after the games tonight--so the players are in place for tomorrow. Dont see the logic there

It may not mean the Islanders are interested, but you're right the situations are not really all that similar.

It's an Eklund rumor and the team's don't really match up all that well since they are in similar 'rebuilding' situations. None of these trade proposals are very likely.

The only thing I see is a Reasoner for a low pick. The Oilers need bodies with their injuries at center and he can at least help in the faceoff circle.
